Kills original primer and Kills 2 are in my opinion the only primer to use. For any project!

While the smell is terrible, and lasts 2-3 days, oil based paints provide superior coverage and protection, in my opinion.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Oilbased Primed kitchen
Our old house had very damaged kitchen walls with numerous layers of old paint/wallpaper. After extensive scraping and sanding etc to prepare the wall surface witch probably would have been easier to just put up new Sheetrock - we used the kilz primer to block out the old stains and it did exactly what we needed done - it worked great. My only disappointment is that we inadvertently bought the oil based which requires mineral sports for cleanup - which is very messy trying to clean up the rollers and paint tray. Ended up just having to throw them out. Will use the product again but would recommend the water based over the oil.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Garageman Buy more than the label says
The oil-based product covers better than the latex, worth the extra hassle of cleanup. Biggest reason for the low "value" rating is that the coverage was not even close to what was shown on the can. Ended up buying almost twice as much to get the job done.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Willis Good stuff. Always good to have a product to go to that you know does a good job.
Have always been happy with Killz products. Covers up nice and goes on easy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vasily Very effective primer paint
We are upgrading our kitchen, including refinishing the wall cabinets. They had a dark walnut finish, over 50 years old. Latex based primers weren't effective for painting over the dark finish. We found that this oil-based primer did the best job of covering over and sealing in preparation for a semi-gloss, "Polar Bear" top coat. Kilz is also very effective in covering and sealing stains on the shelves. We are very happy with the results, and the kitchen is so much brighter now.
