Answer:
It doesn't add the 'pocorn' texture to the ceiling - there are other products for that (I'm told Christmas snow in a can is a great option but haven't tried it myself). You can use this paint/sealer ON a popcorn ceiling with no problems to seal and cover stains, watermarks, etc.

Yes, it worked really well on the stain on my parents old popcorn ceiling. The color was even tinted well enough to match without having to repaint the whole ceiling!

Answer:
This product can be used on popcorn ceilings to cover up stains but will not produce the popcorn texture. It is strictly smooth spray paint primer. They do have a spray in a can available to repair a popcorn ceiling sold in home depot that will produce the popcorn texture you may be asking for. Hope this answered your question.

It will not give you the popcorn effect it is only paint. To get the popcorn effect it needs to be sprayed from a hopper. The can popcorn will not match existing properly, but in a pinch it can be used.

This product is intended to be sprayed with the can pointed upright. The material inside the can could certainly be used to prime any wood or drywall surface, but the applicator is not the best for what you are looking for. Same product comes in a regular spray can.

This is a stain blocking primer and top coat in one. Unfortunately, my experience was not favorable. I used on USG Alpine ceiling tiles, they are at least 15 years old. I was covering water stains. The product did not adequately cover the stains, and it was far darker than the tile color. I wound up replacing them.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. KILZ Upshot is pre-tinted (pre-colored) to match most aged acoustical ceilings. It would depend what color your popcorn ceiling is. I recommend to test a small section on your popcorn ceiling to ensure the color matches. However it can definitely be applied to the popcorn ceiling.

Answer:
Hello Melissa,
Thanks for your question. If applied as just a spot primer over stains, then there's a chance that you'll get a non-uniform appearance in the final topcoat. To avoid that, I'd recommend priming the whole surface and then topcoating with paint. Please follow all label instructions. Best wishes for your project!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 21 year old acoustic 2x2' ceiling tiles look great now, Perfect product for the job. spray up nozzle worked great. Tiles have a very rough texture surface and had dark water stains caused by winter ice dams. Didn't have to spray other good tiles because the color match was so perfect. So glad I found this product. Best to wear a spray mask. October 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Like all Kilz Products - UpShot is Excellent After several months of heavy storms, a few of our roof tiles had come up and a few leaks developed and stained our ceilings in our living room, hallway, and spare bedroom. Went by Lowe's and purchased Kilz UpShot, and a few spritzes later - perfect ceilings once again! Thank you Kilz for such a great product! September 5, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lifesaver! Quickly covered a few water damage spots and paint (oops) spots on our old popcorn ceiling. September 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't Match, Doesn't Cover Was recommended this product by a home depot associate to cover a small water stain on my ceiling (the roof has been repaired). I got home, sprayed it on. The product does not match (house is about 12 years old), more gray than anything, not to mention it splatters horribly, leaving little dots of sticky white...not even paint...on the ceiling. I'm going to have to sand it off and get the KILZ ceiling paint that I wanted to in the first place that she told me "definitely wouldn't work". September 13, 2016
