Baffled with the constant creaks in Archer tub

Just had this installed by contractor. It creaks like a drum when we shower, and slightly so when we bathe. On either side it is easy to push it in and out, like plastic, which I suppose is just the deal with acrylic. But the floor is squeaky and loud. Does anybody else have constant creaks and pops when standing to shower in it? Should it be like traditional bathtubs, ie. silent!? Thank you,

I have installed three of these units, one in my own renovation. They are all in a mortar bed as recommended, especially if your floor is not level and supported with a 2"x4" leveled cleat under the edges for additional support. No problems, no grout cracks. Tile seem at tub should always be a soft joint of silcone not grout or latex caulk.

Can this deep soaking tub be installed with glass shower doors?

Doing a bathroom remodel and want to add tub mounted glass doors. Any problems doing so?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, there is plenty of room to rest the glass door hardware. This tub is a little different than others, in that the edges angle down quite-a-bit. In other words, they are not level. It would be good to consider this when choosing the shower door. I'd look at the base of the shower door and consider whether it will work if at a slight angle.

anyone else install this tub with shower doors or is this a no-no?

Asked by: Anonymous
It would probably be difficult due to that fact that the outer edge of the tub slants slightly inward. You wouldn't have a flush connection with the bottom of a door assembly.

Does this tub have a slanted back so you can relax or is it straight up?

Asked by: Colleen
Very slight slant but not enough to get comfortable when reclining. Back support can be achieved by using a towel or plastic blow-up pillow made especially for water use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Tub! We just remodeled two bathrooms in our home and put an Archer 60" x 30" right hand drain soaking tub with Apron in our main floor, small and narrow bathroom. There is info on this site that says this doesn't exist but we have one installed at this very moment so ask around for this if it's what you need. We replaced an old, shallow cast iron tub (that had to be sledge hammered to pieces to be removed) and we are so happy with this choice (it took MONTHS to make our tub decisions!). I finally can take a bath and have water cover my torso while reclining! Our Archer apron has a more recessed look (see photos) vs. the raised detailing of this model so I'm guessing we have an older model (we purchased summer 2015)? But the classic, clean look is a great fit for our home and a good match for the simple Kohler cast iron Bellwether 66" tub we put in our larger 2nd bathroom. There are no arm rests in this model which is a plus given the narrow size. You do need a special overflow part given the cool horizontal design (which also allows a deeper fill) so make sure you order that part as well, for installation! Great tub and so glad we found this model!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy one of these. Tub One - Received with a crack/dent in the apron (from Home Depot) Tub Two - Received with a crack in the basin (from Amazon) Tub Three - Received with crack in basin (from Home Depot) Tub Four - We finally ordered one from a plumbing factory outlet. It looked fine but when the plumber tried to install it he said it sounded a like it has a defect. We called Koehler and they said couldn't issue a letter of replacement since there was no visible defect. We were then told the sound should stop once it is installed on the mortar bed. After the mortar bed dried, we noticed a small hairline crack at the spot where the plumber noticed the sound. We called Koehler and it was replaced. Tubs Five, Six, and Seven - We took letter of replacement back to the supplier. The had three Archers in stock. We opened up the boxes to look at them. Two had huge scratches and one looked good. After number seven was installed and the tub surround was up, I stood on my tip toes in the tub and it cracked. We are in the process of getting this resolved. We should have went with a different tub after receiving the first three damaged, but I thought maybe the shipping from the online stores was the issue. It turns out the quality of this tub is poor from start to finish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Archer Tub The tub was actually a fantastic tub until 3 months in a cracked formed on the lower rear section floor and I am working with Kohler for some kind of restitution. The warranty states product only, so if the tub is replaced by Kohler I have to have new granite wall torn out to replace with no restitution. So I am stuck with a costly repair on top of the original remodeling costs. The tub floor is soft at the rear section and besides a bed of mud additional support will be needed at installation. And they may not do it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the tub We love this tub ... it is a heavier construction than many other flimsy tubs. It is higher than most, so you can take a nice bath with deep water. It looks sharp! We have had a problem after installation (the contractor followed Kohler's installation instructions) ... the floor of the tub squeaks when we move in the tub while taking a shower. He has tried to reinforce it, without a change in the squeak. We are waiting for a response from Kohler (we wrote a letter).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Web Page Lacking I would have given higher ratings, except the website did not specify that the overflow and tub drain were a separate purchase...... and NEEDED for installation. I had to order the part separately because the Home Depot stores did not carry it, nor did any of the sales associates know what parts went with this tub. One associate actually told me the hole in the tub was the overflow, but I didn't need to do anything, that the hole didn't need to be covered...... LOL. The order was never placed by the operator the first time...... so I had to re-order it, and then the over night delivery, that I was promised, did not come to fruition! So... needless to say, I had to go to a plumbing supply store and purchase the Over Flow drain and drain that my contractor wouldn't charge me ANOTHER days pay!!!!!

It is a beautiful tub and the depth is amazing! I bought this so that I would be able to enjoy a bath where I was actually submerged and it fits the bill! If you need a standard length tub, but want a soaking tub I would definitely recommend this one. Our plumbers did have a difficult time installing it, but for me it was worth it.
