Baffled with the constant creaks in Archer tub

Just had this installed by contractor. It creaks like a drum when we shower, and slightly so when we bathe. On either side it is easy to push it in and out, like plastic, which I suppose is just the deal with acrylic. But the floor is squeaky and loud. Does anybody else have constant creaks and pops when standing to shower in it? Should it be like traditional bathtubs, ie. silent!? Thank you,

I have installed three of these units, one in my own renovation. They are all in a mortar bed as recommended, especially if your floor is not level and supported with a 2"x4" leveled cleat under the edges for additional support. No problems, no grout cracks. Tile seem at tub should always be a soft joint of silcone not grout or latex caulk.

Can this deep soaking tub be installed with glass shower doors?

Doing a bathroom remodel and want to add tub mounted glass doors. Any problems doing so?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, there is plenty of room to rest the glass door hardware. This tub is a little different than others, in that the edges angle down quite-a-bit. In other words, they are not level. It would be good to consider this when choosing the shower door. I'd look at the base of the shower door and consider whether it will work if at a slight angle.

anyone else install this tub with shower doors or is this a no-no?

Asked by: Anonymous
It would probably be difficult due to that fact that the outer edge of the tub slants slightly inward. You wouldn't have a flush connection with the bottom of a door assembly.

Does this tub have a slanted back so you can relax or is it straight up?

Asked by: Colleen
Very slight slant but not enough to get comfortable when reclining. Back support can be achieved by using a towel or plastic blow-up pillow made especially for water use.

It is a beautiful tub and the depth is amazing! I bought this so that I would be able to enjoy a bath where I was actually submerged and it fits the bill! If you need a standard length tub, but want a soaking tub I would definitely recommend this one. Our plumbers did have a difficult time installing it, but for me it was worth it.

The top ledge is slanted in towards the tub so that you cannot put shampoo, soap, etc. on it without it sliding into the tub. Also and this is no fault of Koehler', but I am 5'4" and I feel a little cramped in it. It is deep but not as long as I would have liked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good value for do-it-your-selfers! Light weight made it easier to maneuver in tight space. But it is very wobbly. After seating firmly in a good thick mortar bed, I filled the hollow front wall with a couple of cans of expanding foam. Worked wonders! Taking care to seat it properly, and mounting it perfectly flat and level, this will be the best deal you will ever find!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Must Order Special Drain Note - you must order the specialty (and expensive) drain when you order this tub. We ordered this tub in advance of our contractor coming to install it (along with remodeling the rest of our bathroom). The overflow on this tub is not your standard round overflow. It is a long rectangular one. While it is quite striking, it requires a Kohler drain made specially for this tub. The universal drain/overflow that most other tubs use will not fit. The Home Depot website does not prompt you of this fact, and the drain is not stocked in your local Home Depot store. This set us back two days in our bathroom remodel, as our contractor could not begin installing the tile until the tub was installed. We had to get a drain overnighted to us at considerable extra cost. It is a nice tub, but Home Depot has to do a better job of informing you of the specialty pieces that are required with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Tub Truly a beautiful tub, and very easy to clean. Just be sure to use a gentle cleaner like Clorox Greenworks. One thing to note is that during the renovation we scuffed the tub with a step ladder, and I followed Kohler's recommendation of using a white car polish compound to buff the scratch with a cloth, and it made it as good as new! I am 185lbs 5'11, and this tub is HUGELY spacious. I can sit down in it and although my knees are up, they are just about completely submerged by the tub. Really really happy with it!
