This will be my first composite-material tub as I'm used to cast iron. Of the installation options, mortar or adhesive, what are the differences between the two that I should consider?

BDB, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your installation question. I would recommend a mortar bed as this eliminates any squeaking or movement of the bath when in use. If you are used to cast iron baths, you will appreciate the mortar bed installation when you are using the bath. Please call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-4KOHLER. Customer Reviews

Bancroft 5 ft. Right Drain Soaking Tub in Thunder Grey-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Advertised Lightweight compared to steel and iron; relatively easy install - the wife and I took care of it; not much "flexing" now that it is in place - even without the suggested concrete base; easily screwed into studs without cracking (screws sold sep); the tub comes with a four-legged base already in place; the sides are hollow for you to run some insulation through, which we did to help keep hot water hot and noise levels down; DEEP basin lets you fill with enough water to cover an adult person up to the neck; nice, quiet alternative to a whirlpool jet tub if you cant have one of those put in; delivery was painless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deep standard sized plastic bathtub Doing a complete bathroom remodel I only had room for a standard sized tub (32"x60") but my wife wanted one that is a little deeper than than those they sell in the store. I also did not want to get one that was too heavy as I had to get this to the 2nd floor. I knew I wanted a plastic tub but I was worried about getting one that was strong enough (I did not want to have to replace the tub after tiling the whole bathroom). This tub is very thick and solid, even before you set it in mortar (once it is nailed to the studs and in the cement it id not moving and flexing at all). Keep in mind that this tub basically does not come with anything, just the plastic tub and instructions. You need to provide nails or screws to secure it to the studs. You will also need to provide all the overflow and stopper pieces and plumbing. The tub was exactly what I expected, it fit fine into my rough-in that I did just from the specs on the website (I did not have the tub to measure it in person).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice tub for soaking. I wanted a deep tub but not one that took up a wide amount of space. This one is average length but deep enough for a nice soak. The back is very comfortable for sitting. I opted for the tub without the jets. It looks great in the bathroom and so far I have been very pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tub is aesthetically pleasing. Have not used it yet, as our bathroom is still under construction. Notice that the Kohler logo is crooked which is disa Tub is aesthetically pleasing. We have not used it yet as our bathroom is still under construction. Notice that the Kohler logo is crooked, which is disappointing for a pricy tub. Can buy a similar soaker tub for less than half the price in Canada!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice tub Ordered the Bancroft tub online to be picked up at store. It was 2 weeks late but when it finally arrived I liked it very much and am enjoying it now. If you have trouble getting in and out of tubs this is not for you because it is deep but it has a great shape and is very classy looking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bancroft Right Drain Bathtub The tub is beautiful. It fits perfectly. I especially like the lip on the edge which rolls water on the edge back into the tub.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent choice for an alcove application The is the fourth Kohler Bancroft tub we have bought. We installed three in our home in Florida, and bought this one to install in my daughter's master bath in Texas. Great value for top quality.
