After unpacking this product, I thought the idea was fantastic! A night light built into a toilet seat.
I installed this seat in the wife's bathroom and it was disappointed.
1) If the light wears down the batteries, the seat has to be disassembled, (removed from the toilet)batteries changed, and then reinstalled
2) The blue LED light was barely visible unless the seat was fully opened.
Installation was as easy (as other toilet seats) but don't depend on this one to provide any extra night lighting as claimed!

The idea of a nightlight on a toilet seat seemed funny at first, but when we thought about it, it was a good idea when our elderly parents stay over. The installation was the same as most seats. We just had to put the batteries in the compartment first. The light is not as bright as I thought it would be, but it works. It stays on for 7 hours, then shuts off, or you can turn it off.

This is cool. runs on battery power, and it cycles within 24 hours, 7 hours ON and the rest OFF. It will stay on 7 hours from the last "turn on" you have made, so I set mine on at about 11:30pm and it on till...6:30am. It would be great if it worked based on light conditions (Lights up when the place is dark), bottom line it is nice, if you have to go in the night or early morning, you do not have to turn on the light, the light it has is light blue and...it is nice...

A night light built into the toilet seat sounds great at first. You would think that you wouldn't have to turn on the bathroom light in the middle of the night but you still have to. The brightness of your bathroom light shines over the little dim light of the toilet seat so it makes it useless. The area where the light and battery is located is very difficult to clean. It is very close to the toilet bowl but not close enough that it doesn't block out the yucky elements. The seat itself is well made, the top slowly closes without slamming and that area is easy to clean. The seat without the light would be perfect.

Kohler makes a lot of great products, this is one of them. This is our second toilet seat replacement in the last three month. The LED light is convenient with it's auto on/off feature, but the seat design and construction is what sold my family.

We needed to replace our toilet seat in our bathroom and this seemed like a good thing to try. This shipped to our house in the retail package and there was no damage. so there shouldn't be any worry there.
Installation was a breeze. this comes with new mounting hardware and a tool to help tighten the nuts on the toilet seat. However the mounting is why I'm only giving this 4 stars. This is because this toilet seat uses 4 AA batteries to power the night light. to change those batteries you have to remove the toilet seat from the bowl completely to change batteries. these should have been a quick connect like our other toilet seat in a separate bathroom has, no tools required to remove the seat.
The night light is a nice touch. the button is located on the back of the seat. but you only need to push it once (at the time you want it to come on at night, say 9:30 pm) and it works on a 7 hour timer from there. meaning it will stay on for 7 hours and remain off for 17 hours. it will then come on at the start time everyday. you will not have to push the button to turn it on daily. only if you want to change the cycle time.
Overall I'm happy with it. The soft close works really well and is a nice feature especially since we have small kids. we don't have to worry about them slamming the lid in the middle of the night. I would recommend it as a neat upgrade to any bathroom.

The pros: The design of the seat and cover are very slim, stylish and comfortable. The light is pretty cool and makes the bowl glow softly (so softly, it wouldn't show up on my camera). If you have people in your household that get up in the middle of the night, this is great as you don't have to turn on the jarring bright bathroom lights. If you leave the seat up, or the cover down, you get even more light.
The cons: The installation process was a bit more frustrating than it should have been. The instructions include a bunch of steps including removing and reattaching pieces that could have made install easier had everything come detached. The soft close hinge sticks just a bit when you open the lid, so the seat lifts up a bit and needs to be pushed down; a minor issue but compared to my American Standard seats, that should not happen. Couldn't tell if it shipped like this but I noticed a couple of the tabs on the battery door broken off as I was installing it. It seems like the battery/light area is very delicate.
Overall, the light is a good idea but execution could have been just a bit better.
