When the soft close l id no longer works, can u repair?
Asked by: Kathy
No. If its still under warranty (1 year I think) you can get a replacement. There are no user-replaceable parts in the hinge of the seat that can be replaced.

I would never have thought that a toilet seat could make such a difference. We dumped wooden seats, which seemed to catch every splatter without fail, to these, which have made even the splatter nearly non-existent. It has something to do with the design/angle of the seat itself, I suppose. It is one of the best purchases I've made. The quiet close feature, which I didn't think I would care about one way or the other, has won me over. I know this a lot of commotion about a commode seat, but this one deserves it. I total recommend this to anyone. It will be money well spent. Oh, and by the way, it's super easy to install.

The product met our expectations although there was nothing on the packaging that reflected it was a "no slam" ("quiet-close") seat (like the sample seat in the store was labeled). My wife noted this when I brought it home so we were unsure if I had purchased the right seat. Rather than open the box, I took the seat back to Home Depot (an inconvenience) and a clerk checked out the other seats in the same location "bin" I had gotten mine from: none of them indicated they were "no slam". The clerk then opened mine and took the seat out of the sealed plastic wrapping and tested it:. The seat did close in a gradual manner showing that it was, in fact, a "no slam" product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful I bought this seat because it was the marching brand to the toilet we have at my work, and because it was top rated. This thing is IMPOSSIBLE to put on and have it STAY on. I have installed a few toilet seats in my day, so I knew what I was doing, and I still struggled with this seat for nearly 45 minutes. It broke immediately. The "slow close" feature can't be forced/closed any faster than it wants to go, or the seat pops off. I'm beyond frustrated because the seat is now officially broken and I have to repeat this nightmare of having a busted toilet seat for myself and my staff.

This new "easy to remove for cleaning" design is a piece of junk .. my old standard bolt down elongated plastic toilet seat lasted 12 years and we never once took it off the toilet for cleaning purposes ...with the "old style" plastic bolt connection, you simply use a cleaning agent and wipe around the bolt assembly in place around the toilet seat .. this new design function is supposed to keep the toilet seat firmly in place for actual seat usage, but allow you to wiggle the seat off from around the bolt assembly in place by rocking the seat gently back and forth so it dislodges the bolt clip wings from the bolt assembly and washer .. but in actuality, despite using an 8" long Phillips head heavy duty screwdriver to make sure the bolt screws were tightened as much as humanly possible, the seat wings at the connection point to the bolt assembly still wriggles in place when you are "sitting" .. forget this "removable for cleaning" nonsense and just buy the standard bolt on and leave it seat and you'll be way better off ..; someone tried to get cute here with a new space age toilet seat design and failed miserably.

Purchased this item at the store and found it to be strangely uncomfortable. The center hole width is slightly wider than the similar Bemis model and the seating surface angles down to the center like a funnel. I think it would be even more uncomfortable for a smaller person or child. My wife was also bothered by some rough, almost sharp edges.

It has four bumpers which help distribute weight. It does not have the feel of a wooden seat, but it also does not have the problems associated with wooden seats. The quiet close feature is great, but takes a little getting use to. It fits well and looks great!

I bought 2 units and they are being returned because: 1- they keep loosing up. 2- they are kind of flimsy. 3-they are uncomfortable. 4- the seat has dropped down twice on me while urinating. For me it's just an overall poorly designed toilet seat and it is not inexpensive. Kohler dropped the ball on this one and Home Depot keeps selling it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nicely made I recently picked up two of these because my wife was tired of looking at the peeling paint on our previous wooden seats. These seem to be high quality and should last forever. I like the way they attach to the toilet. It makes for easy removal for cleaning. My kids think the soft close feature is super cool, and it kind of is.
