Does the toilet seat also go down slowly/quietly or is it just the lid?

Asked by: yoyo
Yes, all of the components go down slowly. Quite nice. No more lids or seats slamming down.

Cachet Quiet-Close Round Closed Front Toilet Seat with Grip-tight Bumpers in Black Black is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 280.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok for the price This toilet seat is inexpensive and easy to install. It is also easy to clean, looks nice, and relatively comfortable. However, it is NOT made well. One of ours broke (cracked completely) within 2.5 years, and the other one has a partial crack. I have never had a toilet seat break or crack before. The warranty is only for 1 year so kohler must know they are not made well.

I just bought this yesterday, figured plastic would be better than wood, I'll have to wait and see about that but what I didn't like were the plastic nuts to screw the screw in. I feel like they should have been metal? Because one of the nuts over-threaded (not sure of the correct terminology) so now the screw does not screw in nice and tight, leaving one side of the toilet kind of loose, not good. So now rather then exchange the toilet, I am going to try to find a metal nut, possibly a wing nut and hopefully that will secure it.

This review is related to the same product that I purchased two years ago that the current purchase replaced because the initial one cracked. While I love the features of this product, a toilet seat should last more than two years. We'll see how this new one and the other two that I purchased a while back (all from Home Depot) for two of my other bathrooms hold up. Unless performing some sort of gymnastics or using a seat for a step;ping stool, a toilet seat should never break!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Toilet Seat The seat closes quietly! Watched it being installed and it was easy for our friend to put it in. Fits the Kohler Cimarron toilet model.

I installed a Kohler toilet about 3 years ago which came with a quiet close seat. I subsequently, this past year installed another Kohler toilet in my 2nd bathroom, but not paying close attention, I purchased one with a standard seat. Long story short, I went back to Home Depot today and purchased a quiet close seat for the 2nd one. It is absolutely worth the money but if you think it's what you want, make sure you buy the toilet that comes equipped with it to save a little money and an unnecessary trip later. No more middle-of-the-night dropped seats to wake up the family. I have had no issues with the 3 year old quiet close seat so I highly recommend it.

There was a very annoying squeak coming from the spring when just the top lid was closing at first but it seemed to get better with more use. You would think $40 would buy a good quality toilet seat but the quality of the plastic feels very cheap and is not comfortable to sit on for any period of time. The quick release feature is nice for cleaning but I wonder how long the plastic clips that hold it in place will last. If you just want a basic seat that the kids can't slam shut, then this is the one for you. If you want a comfortable seat, look elsewhere.

The seat is cast in two pieces, front and back, then the pieces are either glued or heat sealed together. In any case, there is a seam on each side of seat, smack in the middle between the front and back bumpers; this creates a weak point in the seat. I'm 122 lbs and my husband is 160 lbs; after using this for only 1 year, in seldom used powder room, the seat cracked completely in half this morning, right at those seams. Conclusion: overpriced junk festooned with formerly trusted "Kohler" name.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No slamming OK. You want a review? I mean, after all, it is just a toilet seat. I'll say so far so good. I've only had it for a few weeks. I always expect toilet seats to last years; so far so good; we'll see. It does install easily and closes slowly and quietly. No slamming. The screws were just barely long enough for installing it over a bidet attachment to the toilet, so that was good. I did not have to go back and buy longer bolts. This seems much better than the toilet seat it replaced. The old one I replaced was made from recycled wood and painted. It looked OK, worked OK, but had a hidden flaw in the form of a joint on the left side of the seat that went all the way through and failed after not very long. This new plastic seat seems much better and more durable than that one.
