Customer Questions & Answers

how deep is the inside bowl?

Basin Depth (in.) 3.625 Is what is listed but I don't know what that is referring too, surely not the depth inside the bowl, it would be so shallow as to cause splashing. Usually bowl depth is 5 or 6". What is the actual depth of the inside of the bowl? Thanks

How many inches from the wall does this sink come out?

We have a very small bathroom and are looking to replace our vanity with one of these to conserve space. Currently, we do not want anything deeper than 15". So, just to clarify... how far from the wall would this sink be? Thank you.

Both were in perfect shape due to an excellent packaging job by Kohler. I installed the combo after a remodel of a downstairs 1/2 bath in our home. The pedestal sink adds a simple elegance to a small space bathroom and gives a feel of more openness. Much more ascetically pleasing than the tired look of a standard vanity sink. As a remodeling contractor I have installed countless bathroom sink variations and I could see several potential problems at the outset and if someone were to just follow the directions as written I suspect they would be in for a very long, frustrating and potentially heartbreaking day. The working space under the sink is very tight. The plumbing rough-in dimensions were about right but there is literally just enough space for a standard p-trap to fit between the wall drain connection which was only about 1 inch proud of the wall and the down tube from the sink drain. The water supply stub-outs can only extend about 1/2 inch from the wall to accommodate a straight through shut off valve which connects to a 12 inch supply line that has to loop around to connect to the faucet tubes. All of the sink plumbing fixtures need to be installed before placing the sink because there is no room to do it afterwards. The little foam pads that are supposed to provide cushion between the sink and the pedestal are about worthless so be careful when placing the sink onto the pedestal. The mounting lag bolts for the sink should be marked and drilled before final mounting but I placed the sink on first and then screwed the lags in after. DO NOT install the pedestal placement bolt before putting the sink on. It needs to be forward a bit from it's final position. You will need that 1 or 2 inches of space and the sink is a bit heavy by now. Otherwise, trying to set the sink with all of the fixtures and hoses attached AND trying to hit the sink mounting lags is a recipe for disaster. Set the sink on and then the whole assembly can be nudged back against the wall. Screw the lags in and put on the bolt caps. I added some rubber sleeves around the lags and also rubber washers between the bolt caps and the sink body. I don't like the sound of metal on porcelain but that's just me. The bolt holding the pedestal in place shouldn't be tightened down. Again with the metal on porcelain. Besides, if that starts moving around you've got bigger problems to deal with. So. I like the look and function of the piece but if your DIY skills are marginal you might want to enlist some help. Or, better yet, hire someone who knows what they're doing. At least if they break your sink you have some recourse.

Unfortunately, it arrived with deep grooves on the pedestal and had to be returned. The second was fine. I had a Kohler for years and it got a tiny scratch which quickly developed into a series of spider veins with the second Kohler sink doing the same thing years later so I am worried that this sink will do the same if hit in the right place. I preferred the elegance of those oval shapes to this one, but on the other hand this has more room to the right and left of the faucet for soaps and paper hand towels.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Attractive sink Yes it's very pretty and seems to be well made however it was a giant PIA to install and not for the faint of heart. Trying to fit up the drain inside the pedestal when you can't really see it was very time consuming. My first attempt resulted in a leak so I had to disassemble the whole thing and redo the trap. But now that it's finished, I like it.

Access to anchor the sink to the wall is extremely tight and difficult except if you have very small hands, which I do not, likewise the pedestal to floor anchorage bolt has very limited access but overall the whole unit is very elegant and well worth the effort struggling to install.
