Q:Does the reversible drain option come with an apron? It’s not pictured and a little cheaper. Trying to figure out if I can save money by purchasing the reversible drain

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Tara, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I am glad to address your question. The bathtub is considered a reversable drain because it does not have an apron. That being said, you can install the bath in either direction (with a left- or right-hand drain). The bathtubs which have an apron cannot be installed backwards to allow for a reversable drain, due to the apron. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

This tub is the biggest i have ever purchased. It was properly packaged and arrived safely. Keep in mind that it is 32 wide, if you had 30 wide before then you will have to move your plumbing both water and drain 1 inch over to make it in the middle. The tub is light weight and feels very durable. Has textured bottom so it is not as slippery for adult, (still a bit slippery for young kids). Overall my family loves the bath. It is huge.

I had a hard time trying to balance between quality and pricing. This one was a bit more expensive than the cast iron one I was eyeing and I have both. This is definitely deep for my short self (5'0") that I find myself having fun submerging myself. It does feel a bit plastic, but it doesn't feel like it would tear or chip easily. One thing I was worried about is that if it will retain soap scum in the middle of the tub. This could occur because of the contractor's skill or the tub itself. In this case, I had a good contractor and no soap scum accumulates within a month. I usually clean my bathtub once a month since I get scared so i can't determine when it will start to accumulate. It is a sturdy plastic and as long as you check before buying for any chipped parts, you should be good. My contractors did that for me before they installed it as I wasn't sure if it was chipped or not. I'm super happy with my purchase and kind of wish I had bought it for another bathroom.

This acrylic tub came with a black support pan glued to the bottom. After just over a year, cracks developed in the tub bottom at locations where there were soft spots that allowed the tub to flex. We ended up cutting the tub out. Where we cut through a soft spot, you could see the gap and the crack right where the gap started. Most of the pan was directly attached to the tub, but in these gap areas, the pan was thinner, causing the gaps. Kohler will only reimburse cost of the tub, not installation or removal.

Looks nice, but I am extremely disappointed in the creaking and cracking noise it makes. I am nervous every day using it and am concerned that it will crack and leak over time (in a 3rd-floor condo).

                Love this tub!
We got this tub for a small bathroom renovation, and it didn’t disappoint. I was looking for something affordable, easy to install, and that would match the vintage look we were going for. LOVE the depth in this soaking tub!

A tub install is really not a DIY project. "Oops #1" You need to put cement inside your house. Look it up. Mortar. After that, Nothing in a house is as square or level as it needs to be. There are always roadblocks. After your DIY decision to continue anyway, this is a nice tub. It is noticeably deeper than your standard tub. Onlookers comment about it. It is rigid. Not bullet proof, but I've not hurt it. Wait till time to tile. I believe it to be a good tub. I've not sat in mine yet. I'm 3 months into this project. Installed new Valve, New drain, Leveled floor, Set tub, put up backer board, Installed niche, Ordered linen cabinet, ...I did run water in it after I leveled and set the tub. It holds water. It has a textured bottom. It has armrests. I hope I finish this some day.
