Answer:
It's preference based on what your likes are in finish & style. As for the drain assembly you can pick up a universal drain kit in the plumbing aisle of your local Home Depot and it's inexpensive, has all the parts and fitting you need and worked great when I installed mine.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 113 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Great tub once everything is installed correctly. Quality is great but you can see in some places that the fiberglass is too thin. The biggest problem was the drain . Also leveling the tub was a difficult, had to use two thin plastic shims on two corners. There are two different drains made for this tub, one is plastic/cable operated and the other is brass and metal lever/spring assembly inside it. I went with the brass one and it is terribly frustrating getting the rod length and drain height adjusted correctly. The instructions are worthless to some degree and it just takes ALOT of trial and error. I spent and hour+ installing/adjusting the drain to the tub before tub installation to figure it out and get it close. Then after the tub was installed it took another hour+ just for adjustment not installation. You literally have to assemble and dissemble over and over, took me about 15 tries to get it decent. You could get the brass drain and a normal manually operated valve and get rid of all the linkage junk but it's expensive and shouldn't have all those issues. There may be other soaker tub drains that would work with the tub but the angle might not be correct where it bolt to the overflow. Leveling the tub was difficult because one of the legs that needed a shim was the hardest to reach with the tub installed. Getting the right size shim was difficult because they were so small. I used liquid nails instead of a bed of mortar. I insulated the bottom of the tub with 1' Styrofoam so the bed of mortar was not possible. I wanted to insulate the tub from the cold concrete . I also insulated all around the tub with R-19 insulation, it stays warm for a good while, I really think it helped. I used this tub as opposed to the one with the built in apron because I thought it would look better and also since my bathroom is the width of the tub getting an apron tub in place without ripping out a lot of sheet rock seemed impossible. The old tub had to come out in pieces, specifically one corner of the apron broken off where it hit a wall stud. Overall, now that it's in place and the tile work is done the whole family is really enjoying it, it really makes the small bathroom a lot nicer. Just in case any one was curious, those are two 1/4' glass recessed shelves. I had the glass cut 24" wide and 3.5" deep(wall stud depth). Recess is made of hardi backer, waterproof membrane, and of course tile. 100 percent silicone sealing the glass/holding the shelves to the tile. June 11, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Köhler Tub ExcellemtnChoice Excellent productmyhat my contractor recommended. I like it so much I bought for the other bathrooms. It is a great value. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love at first bath It's really hard to be confident in a purchase when the only thing to go off of is online reviews and minimal pictures, but between those tidbits and the description, I was extremely pleased with the tub. My husband who is a big guy (6ft, 295 lbs) was in love with the first bath. Our old cast iron tub wasn't swept at all and he didn't get to enjoy it; I made do myself. My only issue is that it scratches relatively issue. The front part has several scratches and it was barely touched. Other than that, it's the perfect addition to our bathroom. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kohler bath tub Very nice, classy, haven't installed yet! Deep I'm 5'7 can sit and stretch my legs! October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Soaker Tub I had the tub professionally installed. He complemented on the ease of installation and styling of the tub. Excellent choice, October 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice soaking tub This tub was ordered online and delivered to a store that is approx. 50 miles from home. The quality of this tub is much better that the in stock models. September 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Big and Beautiful This bathtub is beautiful. I love the extra width and depth. The areas at the ends are big with plenty of space for Shampoo bottles and candles! I'm so glad we picked this tub. I know we will have many years of enjoyment out of it. It is lightweight which made it easier for installation. There was one problem: the side of the tub bowed in after placement a tiny bit, so it would have been slightly noticeable on our tile, but to fix that problem, my handy husband bought a piece of slotted angle steel and stuck it under the side, pulled the tub side outward, and screwed the steel to the floor before we installed the new flooring. It worked great! June 7, 2016
