After updating the faucet and changing the hardware in the kitchen, the old strainer did not cut it anymore. We needed something to match the style and look of the other hardware in the kitchen. Kohler again brings a classic touch and durability to its products. The strainer was easy to install and looks great. The coloring blends well with the other hardware and has taken a beating in our busy kitchen. The finish has yet to dim and still locks into place the same as it did when we first installed it.

The Oil Rubbed Bronze Duostrainer Sink Strainer by Kohler is Solid, yet Stylish in construction. It was beyond my initial expectations, in both style, and weight. It was packaged in a fairly easy to open container and is super solidly constructed. Worth every penny. This should outlast my sink. Remember to always turn-off your water supply, and electricity, if necessary, whether doing a retrofit, or new installation. Safety first!

I was ready to write this review after just a week of use when I read the reviews from a few years ago about the bad finish chipping and pealing off. So I waited another month to see if there was any issue like that one. Fortunately no issues arose. I softly scrubbed the drain every day with a new piece of Scothbrite to give it a real test. The finish looks as good as when installed. If I do have problems, I promise to request from HD the ability to rewrite this review, so if months go by with no update, you can assume no issues occurred.
This drain installed easily, as is the case with most home improvement items which are performed by the owner instead of a plumber. I wish these drains came with a small tube of plumber's putty, because the putty I had was a bit hard and I was reluctant to use it. Nevertheless, it sealed well and has no leaks.
I do like the simple arrangement of the strainer basket that plugs the drain with just a turn of the basket. Simple works best in my opinion.
The drain speed is adequate. The bronze/black finish does look good (knock on wood!). Hope it stays that way.
Summary: No problems with the finish after more than a month of regular use. Easy to install and use. Kind of expensive for just a drain though.

Looked Good from Far and Far From Good
Finish, Function and Durability ALL Epic Fails
Finish Does not last
Drain Stopper o-ring failed instantly and then metal stopper separated from the control handle then control handle guide separated from the basket.
I have many other Kohler products that seem like quality and this item is heavy in weight and light in all the qualities that matter

I almost never write reviews, but after seeing what has happened to my strainers and tailpiece, I had to. I only wish I had read other reviews first. Do NOT buy these! They peel and chip. The oil-rubbed bronze is just a coating, so now our gorgeous black sink has drains that stand out like sore thumbs. They were installed only a few months before the trouble started. Seriously, do not buy.

Kohler is generally a great product. This thing is junk. The paint peels off of the strainer within a month of installation. Kohler just told me water can cause this. Water? Seriously? IT'S A SINK STRAINER!!!!! I would NEVER buy Kohler plumbing hardware again. Customer service is a joke and this thing isn't worth the cheap paint it's covered in.

I wanted a good quality, heavy duty strainer to match my new oil-rubbed bronze faucet. I selected a high end Kohler product, thinking it should be great, right? WRONG!. While the drain portion that is installed in the sink is fine, the strainer's finish is paint over stainless steel, which was not treated to "hold" the paint. About 6 weeks after installation, I turned the strainer over to empty it, and the entire painted back slipped off in one piece. Home Depot generously replaced it with a new one, and a month later, it is chipped, the edge is worn and the whole inside is "loose". I notice others have called Kohler, and they are not taking responsibility for this problem. As a contractor, I can only say, I am thankful I did not put one of these in at a customer's house!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 2dice I returned it.
After checking with my Plumber he didn't recommend this brand or finish. I returned this and purchased a stainless steel instead. Stainless was less expensive and more durable according to my plumber.
