How powerful is the flush compared to others (getting rid of waste the first flush)? What is the flush rating?
Asked by: Chops
Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. The canister flush valve has a high velocity as the water rushes in quickly from all sides. It is a little noisier than the old style of flush valve with a flapper in which the water swirls around the bowl before exiting. The canister flush provides a more powerful flush as well. Please work with your local The Home Depot for pricing and availability on this product. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

Should the tank wobble?

The tank seems very loose. It kind of rocks on the gasket.

My tank does NOT wobble. You may have problem with the installation.

With tile on the wall only have 11 1/2" to center/ mounting holes
Asked by: Rock
I would say yes, there is some "wiggle room". Just set the toilet in place with the lid to be sure before installing.

Elmbrook The Complete Solution 2-piece 1.28 GPF Single Flush Elongated Toilet in White is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 86.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too easy I must thank whomever at Kohler who designed this toilet. It was probably the easiest installation I've ever experienced due to well thought out planning. Everything is pre-installed (float, flapper, etc) the mounting hardware is integrated into the bottom of the tank. You just attach the tank to the base, throw down a toilet ring, attached the water and snug everything up. Took less than 30 minutes all said and done. Looks great in our bathroom remodel and performance has been just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice looking toilet, quiet, but needs a better seat This is a nice toilet with a wide base that adds a modern look to my recently updated bathroom. I put in a new tile floor and wanted a nicer looking toilet to go with the new vanity, etc, etc. This Elmbrook model has a large rectangular base that goes nice in the bathroom. It's a large base that almost touches the baseboard behind it, but it just fits. The specs claim the rough-in distance is 12," but I have it on a 10.5" rough-in and the tank is only an inch from the wall. A 12" rough-in would really pull it away from the wall - awkwardly, I think. It flushes well and the tank fills quietly - much quieter than the toilet it replaced. The only real negative is the low quality seat that is included. It's cheap plastic, it doesn't have a slow close feature and it just feels flimsy. Compared to the rest of the toilet, it's poor. I'll be replacing it shortly with a better seat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Toliet!!!!! This is a lovely toilet and it adds a sophistication to the space. The only reason that I did not give an excellent rating is because it would have been that if it came with a slow close seat. Very pleased with this toilet. Easy to install. It has a quick flush with less water. I will likely be putting a different toilet sit on this unit that is of better quality and slow close as I dislike the fact that it slams shut when closing and seems to be thin and not of good quality. Works very nice. quick install , very low watet usage nice and quiet flush .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does exactly what I expected it to do I don't have to much to say about this toilet except it does a good job at doing what it is designed to do, removing waste. Installation was straight forward and includes everything you will need except the supply line. I always use oversized wax rings when I install a toilet because most of the standard size rings are to small when installing on tile. I have a dual flush toilet but we don't really find ourselves using that feature much so the single flush is just fine with us. Toilets can go for many hundreds of dollars, so at this price point, and given the fact that it is a Kohler, I am happy with it. As an added feature the seat included with it is quick release for easy cleaning.

I went and ordered 2 of the Elmbrook 45983-0 toilets from Home Depot on 1/10/17. On 1/1317 they both were sitting on my front porch when I got home. Saturday I was going to install, so in the morning I opened the first box...I was really surprised tank and bowl were in 1 box, I opened the top of the first box and saw the broken tank. I was really disappointed as I wanted to get these installed and not have any hassles with returns. I opened the second box, it looked in good order. I removed the first toilet and installed the new one. At least I'll have 1 done! I finished the installation, checked for leaks and operation, everything is good! I checked again to make sure there is no slow leaks, and I had a puddle on the bathroom floor. Supply valve is wet...but ok. The tank is dripping...from the side! Condensation? No, a 4" hairline crack in the side of the tank that water is seeping thru. I'm angry now. 2 toilets ordered, both are damaged, one unfortunately I couldn't see until after installation. It's obvious the 1st toilet is a packaging and/or shipping issue as there was only a piece of cardboard laid on the tank to protect it. The box looked like possibly another toilet was or something heavy was put or dropped on top of it. The second toilet is a manufacturing or packing issue as the sides seem well protected. So now I have 2 useless toilets, 1 unusable bathroom , my time lost because I have to do a job twice, the hassle of returns and waiting for replacements...hopefully they're not broken. I'll update when I get the new parts. One other note, in the specs at Home Depot it says this toilet is 33" high, that is incorrect. I actually checked with Kohler before ordering and the toilet is 29 1/4" tall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish toilet. Easy to install. Valve, float, flush lever, etc. pre-installed in tank. Wax ring and seat included. This is a very classic style porcelain toilet that looks great and coordinates well with other white Kohler fixtures in our traditional style bathroom. The toilet and tank arrived in a single box atop a wooden pallet surrounded by an abundance of impact absorbing cardboard covered in stretch wrap to prevent damage. A wax ring, gasket, seat, and mounting hardware are included, however it’s necessary to reuse your existing water supply line, or purchase a new one. The only tools required for installation are an adjustable wrench and Phillips head screwdriver. Installation instructions are well written and contain clear illustrations that detail each step of the installation process. Since this toilet is replacing an older fixture, I reused the supply line which was in good condition. The valve, float, flush lever, etc. are pre-installed in tank. Minor adjustment of the float was needed to achieve the correct water level in the tank. The toilet seat is your basic plastic, slam-close type, and not the soft-close type I’ve come to appreciate, but it’s easy to install, and is able to be removed for cleaning without having to remove the threaded nuts. The toilet is designed for a standard 12-inch rough-in. Having previously installed more than one toilet, I find the installation goes a little easier if you secure the tank to the base, and install the seat before moving the toilet into position and bolting it down to the flange in the floor. Unlike other toilets, where the tank is attached to the base with bolts that run through the bottom of the tank, the tank is mounted to the base by a metal plate on the underside of the tank, so there are no holes in the tank. This is the first time I’ve seen this type of mount, but it makes sense that there not be holes in something that needs to remain watertight. I prefer to use a foam ring instead of the included wax for a cleaner installation that’ll allow me to take up and reposition the toilet, if necessary, without having to scrape wax and use a new ring. The flush lever is metal with a brilliant chromed finish. It’s a bit small and narrow, but does the job of flushing the toilet. In terms of the porcelain and the internals of the tank, they are the same quality and components as used in the more expensive Kohler Memoirs toilet installed in my ½-bathroom. This Kohler Elmbrook toilet is a nice addition to our bathroom, and represents a huge improvement in style and functionality over our old toilet. You can’t go wrong with a Kohler toilet at this price point. This toilet looks great, the flush is strong, and we have not experienced any clogs, but if you do get a clog, you will need a plunger designed for a keyhole shaped outlet because the outlet is too elongated for a standard plunger to make a good seal

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product RE: Kohler Elmbrook 2-piece 1.28 GPF Single Flush Elongated Toilet in White A very stylish looking toilet, and easy to install. This toilet includes the seat and the wax ring. I replaced the water supply line (also available at Home Depot) to complete the install. Toilet seat is the run of the mill, slam close, basic lid. Toilet has a quiet flush.

Because of the design of the bottom of the bowl you CAN NOT use a plunger on them. Any plunger available will not make a seal on the bottom of the bowl and therefore is basically useless. So unless you go #2 in little pellets like a rabbit I advise you buy a different brand toilet that you can plunge when it gets stopped up.
