I was told the advantage of this toilet seat was the ease with which I could remove the seat from the toilet thereby better cleaning of both the seat and the toilet in an area it is difficult to keep clean. My guess is that I did not install it properly. The "instructions" were useless line drawings.

Seat was perfect. The only problem, but the toilet holes are not easily dealt with (screws fit into special nuts not accessible from below), and I had to order a new accessory kit

Installed over 2 weeks ago. Because I was installing it alone I used the plastic flange imbedded in the wax ring to help guide the toilet to the drain. The replaced toilet was 3.5 gallons, which because of encrustments mainly circled and required a plunge every other dump. Naturally I was concerned that 1.28 gallons might not be enough. However, it rushes down. Also because I am from California and trying to satisfy conservation requirements “yellow is mellow”. The former toilet required a hard scrubbing once a week, as in bacterial plaque on never brushed teeth, due to the horrid brown biofilm buildup. This toilet has been scrubbed once and there was no biofilm. I don’t consider the flush noisy and in any case the refill is quite swift.

My toilets are Kohler so It fits perfect and is easy to remove for cleaning. It's quiet to close and nice not to have it slam especially in the middle of the night.

I bought this having no idea that there was such a thing as a quick release toilet seat. I thought those days ended with the out house. Any way the toilet seat does not stay where it was installed. The plastic screw/wedge does not hold on one side. It might have been fine if the hardware were of better quality.

Assume you are already a fan of elongated seats and ADA-height toilets... The difference between this seat and another from Kohler is the damper-equipped hinge that keeps the seat from slamming down OR slamming up by slowing the motion in both directions. Both gravity and inertia are dampened. If slamming seats bothers you at all -- ever -- (perhaps by accident in the middle of the night, or with kids) then this is for you. Otherwise, go with the identical seat without the damping. Why? If you lower the seat to USE it, you either have to wait the 4 seconds it takes to lower by dampening OR you have to hold the seat and place it in position (overriding the damper) OR you can sit on it before the seat is fully down. This is all totally worth it if seat slamming gets on your nerves; otherwise don't bother.
