I just installed two of these toilets and they both make much more noise than previous toilets I have had in any other home. Some of the reviews have noted this excessive noise also. My neighbors haven't complained yet but I expect it at any time. Please advise.

However, I live with it because of the water savings and general overall excellence of this product in my home. Holding the handle down through the complete flush cycle allows more tank water to flood the bowl which is very effective at getting rid of the "burble/slop" you mention. Just tried it...and it does work. This is 2016 and I have had to get used to new noises from a modern washing machine and now a toilet. I hope your neighbors will also understand you are following the laws associated with water-savings related to your new toilets. Other than the aforementioned work-around, there is nothing you can do to change the sounds this toilet makes at the end of its flush. Read Less

Why does this toilet require three bolts installation? I don't see any instructions as to where the 3rd is located and why? Most toilets 2 bolts.

That refers to the tank to bowl connection which has 3 bolts. The toilet mounts to the floor flange with the standard 2 bolts.

Hello, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am glad to answer your question. This toilet's three bolt pattern is inside the tank in the shape of a triangle. There is a triangle gasket and 3 screws which hold the tank to the bowl. For more information, please contact our Customer Service team at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com. My toilet only required two bolts to the floor and there is no provision for a 3rd. The tank, however, requires 3 bolts to mount it/level it to the bowl unlike the older toilet it replaced which only had two.

Answer:
The reference to 3 bolts is how the water tank attaches to the base unit. There are 3 bolts which hold the two pieces together for stability and maintain a tight seal between the 2. One on each side and one in the back. (The base unit is attached to the floor with the 2 standard bolts, and should also be caulked around the base for a good seal.) The 3 bolts are provided in the Highline Classic box.

Highline Classic the Complete Solution 2-piece 1.28 GPF Single Flush Elongated Toilet in White is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 618.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality toilet by Kohler We already had this model from a recent remodel and when our other 20 year old commode began wasting water we decided to go with the same proven model. Flush system uses a minimal amount of water with great results and the elongated bowl is quite accommodating. This replaced a contractor cadet sized toilet and the difference was night and day. Be sure to get a decent sized wax ring as the waste port sits a tad high on this model. Our closet flange sits about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the tile so we opted for an extra long wax ring with built in horn without issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never thought I'd say "I love my new toilet" as often as I've been saying it lately. (If I get the $100 water-savings rebate then this will REALLY have been an economic purchase, but even without it, under $200 for this toilet is, I feel a good bargain). I replaced a twenty or thirty year old toilet which had gotten clogged with enough mineral deposits that it flushed poorly, rarely fully emptying the bowl, even though it used a LOT of water. This new toilet uses VERY little water and even though they don't promote this as a feature, it sort-of has a dual flush option; if you lightly push down the handle it does a minimal flush that clears the bowl of liquid, and if you push the handle down and hold it for just a moment, you get a full, complete flush. So it's a dual-flush toilet for much less than you'd normally pay. Installation was a snap; in my case any toilet installation is going to be challenging because the drain hole sits unusually deep below the surface of the floor, so I had to purchase an additional, double-width wax ring (and longer mounting screws) to make this work, but that's because of my home, not anything Koehler. The extra two inches of bowl height took about a moment to get used to --- it's SO much better than "standard" height, and the included toilet seat is high-quality and very comfortable. Anyway, bottom line --- I really love my new toilet!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Inconsistent Quality Bought 3 of these toilets at the same time to replace the builder installed toilets. Have had several issues that have varied with each toilet. First issue that is consistent among all of the toilets is that toilet paper will stick to the inside of the elongated bowl due to the low water level and minimal water that actually flushes. Second issue is that the seats seems to slide slightly off center while sitting down. Third issue is that toilet is hard to unclog due to uncommon opening. Fourth and most annoying issue is one of the toilets will splash your inner thigh when flushing. Probably would look into a different brand next time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not buy this product again. This toilet comes with flush components factory installed and uses a canister valve instead of a flapper valve. After the toilet was installed by a plumber the canister valve leaked causing the tank to refill every 5 minutes. The plumber worked on it for almost an hour and even replaced the canister valve seal. He finally gave up and told me to contact Kohler. Since the valve is supplied installed by Kohler, it's not the plumber's responsibility to fix the issue. So after paying $145 to have the toilet installed, I've got to play plumber and resolve the problem. Thanks Kohler and adios.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very satisfied I bought this 4 months ago and waited to write this review. I highly recommend the higher seat it is so much more comfortable. I had the toilet installed by a profesional and he suggested installing a better seal for $20 which I did. I really like the flush, and that the toilet uses less water. And on occasion, I simply hold down the flusher a second longer to increase the amount of water if there is more to be flushed. I have read other reviews and never had an issue with poor flushing or need for more frequent cleaning. Overall very satisfied and highly recommend for the price and value. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'ts Great Some people at Kholer put their heads together and came up with a great product. Worked great for 3 months and suddenly backed up. Could not plunge it. Had the cesspool opened and the problem was in the line to the pool. From the start I wondered how you can get such a great flush with so little water. Now I know that you must hold handle down a bit longer to empty the tank to flush bigger amounts. the problem was not the toilet it was because I have a long horizontal run to the cesspool witch required more water. My own fault, I never noticed instructions to hold down handle a bit. Now that the problem is solved I can,t rave enough about this product

This toilet looks pretty good, but the super cheap plastic lid really takes a lot away from it. We are not experienced DIYers, but the instructions, that were just printed on the box, were confusing at times. It is a good water saver and very narrow so saves space. But for almost $200 I think the lid should be better.

Easy to install (and I had never installed a toilet before, though I am pretty handy). Easy close lid is very nice to have. Sometimes if i am using another toilet I have to be careful when shutting the lid so make sure it doesn't slam down. It flushes very quickly and uses very little water. Our old toilet from 1986 (original to the house) used to clog at least once a week with only usage from 2 adults. This toilet has clogged once and it has been 4 months. I am very pleased with this product, so much so that I bought another one for our other bathroom. Also, don't forget to buy some shims for installation to ensure a level toilet. And don't over tighten the bolts! *Tip* Check your local water company for rebates. I am in Atlanta and was able to get a hundred rebate for each new toilet!
