What is the meaning of Dual-Flush.

Asked by: Anonymous
It is a split handle, so you can use the chrome lever or the green one. The longer green lever provides a light flush at 1.1 gallons and the full lever gives a complete flush at 1.6 gallons.

Hello, do you have a flush rating for this product?

Asked by: Anonymous
The "flush rating" is not the problem so much as the water being too low in the bowl so that solid waste lands on the porcelain and takes 15 flushes to wash it clean. Tell me, how does THAT "save" water? Although I'd like to buy new, taller, toilets now, I'm keeping what I have until toilet designers get a clue and design a toilet with a trap that leaves enough water in the bowl so that solid waste does NOT land on the porcelain! My toilet ALWAYS works with only ONE flush - and that's with three large sealed containers of water sitting in the tank to reduce the amount of water used in each flush. The key is that there is enough water surface IN THE BOWL to prevent solid waste landing on, and sticking to, the porcelain, which requires MANY flushes to get the bowl clean. I'd rather deal with a toilet a little lower than I'd prefer, rather than deal with solid waste landing on and sticking to porcelain and having to flush 15 times to clean it off.

My venture to replace a 30+ year toilet started with the Kohler Highline Complete Solution Class Five 11499-0. When I got home and removed the old toilet to make way for the new one, I looked the new one over and found a crack in the inside run of the trap. This wasn't a small crack, it was well over 4 inches long. I went back to Home Depot who gave me a full refund. I went back to plumbing to get another toilet of the same model. I mentioned to the store manager that I want to open the box before heading home. When we did we found the bowl of this one had a hole broke all the way through. The box was in perfect shape so I believe it was boxed at the factory with this issue. Same as my first one. After 1.5 hours trying to find a good toilet, I finally decided to purchase this model, the dual flush. Like all the others I inspected the unit before heading home. The installation went well. I had to adjust the water level and tighten the flush handle, it was loose. I'm worried about future cost with the complex valve system of this model. The dual flush has more components that are special. Not your standard hardware. When it fails I expect the cost of these components will be high. This and the quality control issues are the reasons for only 3 stars. I'm not real happy with Kohler's quality control. It is lacking.

One was an ELMBROOK model and it worked fantastically (so far). The other two were the HIGHLINE model dual flush toilet, one elongated and one round. Neither of them worked well with the flush refill feature. Using the full flush they either continued to run or filled and slowly leaked and cycled filling until I jiggled the "flapper" valve to seat it properly. No problem with the ELMBROOK even though the mechanisms look the same. I sent an email to the customer service on Monday and haven't heard anything back from them as of Wednesday. I bought them at the same time so I didn't realize there was a problem with the design. I can't bring the toilets back and I really don't want to go through the install again. The designs are different so I can't go get the other design and install it in the HIGHLINE units. So far my recommendation is to get the ELMBROOK model if anyone wants to get a Kohler at all.

Just bought and installed and seems to be a very nice toilet for the price point. These are very nice looking toilets and the internal workings are very strong versus a typical cheaper toilet with a rubber flapper and float. The dual flush is fairly quiet and very easy to use and works very smoothly. This toilet was really easy to install. Only thing I would do would be to buy a different extended wax ring, as the one supplied is very small and thin. Does not come with a water supply line.

First, the toilet seat is cheap so we replaced that on the second day. When you sit on the toilet, the lid to the tank moves as it does not fit snugly onto the tank. Now after 3 months of use, it either does not flush or does not stop filling. We have to open the lid almost every usage. I have had the installer back and he said we got a lemon. Very sad as this went into my beautiful, completely remodeled bathroom.

Plus it came with a toilet seat and wax seal, how handy is that? The only problem that I've had is sometimes after flushing, the fill valve doesn't want to open. I don't know if the float isn't quite heavy enough to open it all the time. So I have to take off the lid and just touch the valve and it will fill the toilet up. Maybe I just have a sticky valve. But I do like the toilet.

Works flawlessly, which you'd expect from any toilet, but is a relief to someone replacing a troublesome one. Delivery was quite prompt and my handyman said it was easy to install. But what I liked best is the intuitive, almost inviting design of the dual flush. "Button at the top" designs aren't very confusing, but the handle is very obvious and invites you to use the lesser flush with a small green, rubber tip.

The toilet seems to work great. We really like the dual flush option, which saves water when there is no solid waste to be flushed. The toilet came as a complete solution with all parts included for install, with the exception of a inlet hose. The old hose can be used, but for about $5 I bought a new one. The toilet bowl and tank come unassembled and had to be bolted together. This was easy to do, but the gasket between the two pieces was nowhere to be found. I had to stop in the middle of the installation to run up to Home Depot to get a gasket. They gave me one off the shelf at no charge, but it should have been included. Not sure if this was a one off mistake leaving the gasket out of the box or not. All in all we are happy withe the new toilet and are considering replaceing the toilets in the other 2 bathrooms with this model.

This toilet looks nice, but the bowl does not fill enough to allow for a complete rinse (the tank does fill completely). I would NOT recommend this product, nor purchase it again. BTW, the toilet was installed by a plumbing contractor who agrees that it does not provide an adequate flush. Buy something else.
