Do the doors needs to be drilled into tub ledge?

I'm planning on getting this tub for my renovation: http://www.homedepot.com/p/American-Standard-Cambridge-5-ft-x-32-in-Right-Drain-Americast-Soaking-Tub-in-White-2461-002-020/100050391 But the brand rep said that i can't use shower doors that when installing need to be drilled into the tub ledge. i don't see any specification about how the doors are installed on the page, could someone help me? Thank you!
Asked by: Andrew
I would have to believe it would depend on the height of you tub ledge, mine was 2-1/2" and it did not require it. The first hole in the side verticals is about 5" from the end.

Is the shower door supposed to "seal" off water from the shower head where the door meets the tiled wall?

Question is for the installation of the Levity tub/shower bypass, semi-framed with handle in nickel.
Asked by: Steve
no, there is a gap. The glass hangs from the upper track leaving a gap all the way around. There is a very thin piece that is glued to the base and sides, but there is a gap between the hanging glass and the trims.

It would be better to measure and mark the handle locations than to use the cardboard template. The suggested position of the handles on the instructions are too low. Also, the "spot-free" treatment of the glass does not prevent or reduce dried water spots, as claimed (and I did put the treated side of the glass facing inside, as per the instructions). I wouldn't call this a nickel finish either, it's aluminum, and clearly so. Not worth the $349.00 I paid. Should be more like $250 But the glass doors do look nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Looking Door Beautiful bathtub door that looks more expensive than the price paid. The doors slide so smoothly and the glass and hardware are all great quality. The instructions for install were easy to follow just time consuming which is what we expected. Very happy with the end result and price we paid.

A frameless door with thin glass doesn't work well. Kohler told me that was within their specs, tough. This would be a great door with thicker glass, but as is its a poor design. Avoid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tub glass 62 inch Was to short for my new bathroom, took it back and happy with the 90 inch height.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great, but Poor Choice Don't buy this door. It took 3 days to install, and it needed an adjustment 3 weeks later. We think the bottom corner hit the tile and the glass shattered into a million pieces. Not worth the time or trouble and I love Kohler, but this design needs work. There are probably better choices.

Reviewed the instructions several times before installing, making sure I fully understood the reason for each step. They went up as instructed. I did have an issue with the door guide at the bottom. When unpacking the goods, that piece was out of the vac sealed strip. I later realized it was bent. If I had not noticed it and was not able to straighten it out prior to installing , it would have been a BIG issue. That piece needs to be FLAT on the tub. It was not easy to straighten but I did. End result "They look beautiful!!" and operate nicely.

The rubber rollers on top slide effortlessly. Clean lines and elegant look. The thin track makes assembly a little more precise than wide track models and will not cover damage to tile or tub if replacing a wide track unit. The instructions were detailed and easy to follow. I would have liked a threaded screw for handle as I worry the adhesive holding it will eventually give up. The design is elegant and easy to clean
