Customer Questions & Answers

O ring in facuet is white. Is it a whole ring or is there a split in it

Asked by: Sally
The white rings are not the O rings and they are split. Think of them as guides to keep the faucet from wobbling. You MUST replace the black O rings because they are the actual seals.

I cannot remove the faucet body to gain access to the leaking o-rings. I've really pulled on it and it only rises 1/2".

Asked by: RWW
Rest assured that it will come off, but it does take some effort! If it comes up 1/2" it will come off. I wish there was a tool made to do it but I have not found one. It took me 15 minutes to get it off and it took a few more to put it back on again! USE ALL THE LUBRICANT SUPPLIED!! Good luck with your project - you can do it!

Does this work on kohler kitchen faucet model # k-R10412-N-CP?
Asked by: Nancy
Hello, my name is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I'm glad to answer your question. If the faucet swivels 360 degrees, it would use this seal kit. If it only swivels 120 degrees, it would not use this seal kit. Thank you for choosing The Bold Look of KOHLER.

There are a lot of things a 'do-it-yourself' handyman can do with off-the-shelf pieces that can be found everywhere, but this is NOT one if them. This manufacturers kit is meant for a specific job and it does it very well. It was also less expensive than trying to find all the pieces individually. If you have a leaking (Kohler) faucet base this is your solution. It will require a strong hand to pull the faucet from its base but it will come off and the faulty pieces can be removed and replaced easily. Do follow the enclosed instruction sheet and don't start without shutting the water supply lines off! The right parts make the job so much easier!

As recommended, I replaced these seals as part of replacing the mixing valve in the faucet. The tube of silicon grease was a generous quantity and I also used it when replacing the diverter valve. I've saved the rest for other jobs.

The Kohler faucet I have is a poor design, it started leaking only a year after I installed it. After a couple of years of leaking which got steadily worse I replaced the valve first. On the back of the valve package was a notice saying I should also replace the O-Ring seal. Unfortunately I didn't read the notice until I got home. So I put the valve in first and found that there was still leaking but not as bad. The next day I went back to Home Depot to get this O-Ring set. I put it in and it stopped the leak completely. The warn O-Rings didn't look much different than the new ones I put in. The silicon seal is the a magic part. What a blessing to not have to clean up the leaks any more! If I had known it was only $6 and that easy to replace the seals I would have done it long ago!
