Answer:
Hi John,
Applying a filter that is designed for use on a mower engine on a motorcycle is risky.
The RPMs of a mower are constant and relatively slow at around 3000 RPM. Motorcycles constantly vary their engine speed from 1000 to 10,000 RPM.
Oil filters are relatively inexpensive and readily available. Is your vintage bike worth risking?

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Short answer is that either the 52 050 02-S1 or the 12 050 01-S1 filter would work. The main difference would be the filter length. As background, the 1050 Cub uses a Courage twin cylinder, whereas the 20 hp 46” cut model used a Courage single cylinder. Given that, it seems the standard replacement would be the 12 050 01-S1 (used on the Cub single cylinder) filter, which we Read More

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to change Typical oil filter, about the same size as the one on my truck. Easy access on the side of the engine. I cut a plastic soft drink cup from fast food chain in half and then a 1/4 inch hole in the bottom, slid it under the old filter before removing. It caught 100% of the oil draining from the old filter as I removed it. Smeared a bit of oil on the gasket for the new filter and hand tight was plenty since you have easy access with both hands to it. Super easy for even a novice to change the oil and filter on a cub cadet. February 24, 2014
