Customer Questions & Answers

Is it touch less or does it have a handle? Some of the reviews are talking about touch less issues???

Asked by: Anabel
Hello, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am glad to answer your question. The San Sous toilet is available with a touchless tank and without. This product does not have the touchless feature, it will have a handle on the side of the tank. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

Can the toilet seat be changed?

Will a standard size toilet seat fit on this toilet or are you restricted to the one that comes with it? If you are restricted to the one that comes with it, can you replace it with a new one (same model) if the old one gets damaged, dirty, etc.?
Asked by: SD12

What material is the included K-4009 Grip-Tight Reveal Q3 seat made of?
Asked by: eyeball
Plastic. I never installed it, however. The seat was smaller than it needed to be so I just transferred the seat from the toilet I was replacing.

San Souci 1-piece 1.28 GPF Single Flush Round Toilet in Sandbar is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 55.

I'm providing more information on my review for those who are installing this toilet in a very small bathroom. Had to purchase to fit in small (5' x 7' total floor space) guest bath remodel. Replacing a very expensive two year old Toto Ultra Max one-piece ADA Height compliant (17" seat height), low profile 2.6 GPH toilet with elongated bowl (28 1/4" from wall to front of seat). Very happy with Toto although you had to hold down the lever for full flush to get the job done. PROBLEM, although top of Toto tank was only 29 1/4 inches, it was 36 1/2" with the elongated seat up. Result: it was too high to fit under 35" new counter's 8" shelf that extends from sink area over the toilet (called a "banjo"). Requirements: - low total height to fit under counter shelf with seat open; - high enough seat to still be comfortable for senior person, - large enough GPH to flush once & get job done - shorter from wall to front of fixture I've had the San Souci for two months. It comes in both round and elongated styles. I chose the round as it takes up less space, especially with the seat up. San Souci round is only 24 inches from ground to top of fixture and 31" high with seat open, seat is 16" high, (only 1" less than Toto), and actually more comfortable than elongated bowl. Although only 1.28 GPF, it flushes faster, quieter and more efficiently than the 1.6 GPF Toto. From wall to front of fixture is only 25 5/8 inches, the smaller "footprint" really makes a difference in this small bathroom. I couldn't be happier with this toilet and it gets a lot of use. It's the best one I've ever had, looks sleek and stylish and was well worth the price. I highly recommend the San Souci round toilet for any bathroom, large or small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade This was an upgrade for a small powder room. It is a compact, but adequate, size. It was easy to install and flushes like a vortex! Totally happy with this purchase and would buy again for our other bathrooms. Recommended.

The most important aspect of this product that led me to purchase it was its size was small enough to fit my tiny lavatory without the door hitting it. It was also a traditional toilet not some strange European wall mount job and it fit on a standard 12" rough-in. It was a direct replacement for an older toilet that had been in place since the house was built in 1973. It was easy to install myself. It uses much less water per flush than the 5-gallon job it replaced but it is able to get rid of the waste well because despite the less water, more of it goes into the bowl all at once due to the larger opening between the tank and the bowl. I am very pleased with the installation, operation and appearance of this product. The one-piece nature of it makes it easy to keep clean as well. I paid a little over $500 for it but considering that these smaller toilets are made in lower volumes, I can understand the higher cost. The only think I didn't like was the seat. It is plastic and smaller than a standard seat because the cover completely hides it. I didn't even bother taking it out of the packaging. I just installed the seat from the toilet I was replacing. It fit and is way more comfortable than the cheap plastic one this toilet came with.

The flushing is precise, fast, relatively quiet. We are amazed at how well this toilet flushes 'the first time'. No multiple flushes required; no wait/hesitation. We're thrilled. Will be ordering another soon for another bathroom. The Kohler color white is a beautiful warm, creamy tone. Perfect! Thank you so much, and no, I do not work for Kohler. Just a really happy satisfied customer/family.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good toilet, but manufacturing flaw and crushed packaging When I went to Home Depot to pick up the toilet they rolled it out to me and I said "oh my god what happened to it! "The box was badly crushed down by about a foot and opened by the impact. Fortunately, the crushing came in an area over the toilet seat so the toilet itself was not damaged. When I got it home I discovered that there was no wax ring in the box, as there was supposed to be. So I had to go back to Home Depot and buy one. When I set the toilet in place I found that it rocked on the flat tile floor. I placed a level against the bottom of it and found that some of the interior ceramic support structures were too long, I had to grind them down with a Dremel tool before the toilet would sit flat on the floor. After that, the toilet installed fine, and looks and works great. I got this toilet because it was very compact and fit under the shelf, and it fits the bill. I recommend Kohler's Clean Caps closet bolts with this toilet.

After unpacking the toilet from a sealed box the first thing we did was to inspect it. The next thing was to clean out all the debris that was laying in the bowl. Next was to adjust the flush control valve so the handle was not binding up with it. For a high dollar name brand this "quality control" is unexceptable .............

I called Kohler and they suggested I adjust the water level in the tank. It is as high as it can go. The problem remains. Testing to see what might be going on, I see where the water coming in misses areas of the bowl and jumps over other spots, because of the bowl design. How can it get clean? Try the approach: Form follows function. While customer service is nice and tries to be helpful (3 calls to them now) I really have no solution. They are sending a new flush valve, but I am almost certain that will not be the fix. I compared the flush valve operation to a different Kohler toilet in our house and they both close rather quickly. All they can offer is a replacement of the same model. To add insult to injury, Home Depot will not take the Letter of Replacement from Kohler, Kohler said. Great! I feel quite frustrated as my 32 year old American Standard did a much, much better job of what a toilet is suppose to do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased with looks and performance Like the low-profile one-piece styling. Flushes surprisingly well for 1.28 gal, although skid marks are occasionally not always completely washed away. Would highly recommend, a very good low volume water usage toilet.
