Either way but much easier to fill up from the top. Just pull on the top pice of the soap handle. Be sure not to knock off the straw. Fill up soap through the base that's attached to the sink and put the handle back in….Too bad I found this out later rather than sooner

It's hard to say, since you said it's leaking 'all over the place'. Not sure if it's leaking under the sink, or on top of the sink. I had a problem with the hose from the lever assembly to the faucet head. The quick coupling connector was rubbed by the brass weight that pulls the faucet head back into place. That caused it to leak under the sink when the water was turned on, and no water came out of the faucet. I ordered the hoses for the handle assembly to the faucet head, and a few other parts that looked corroded under the sink from Kohler. (call their 1-800 number) There was no charge for these parts, or for shipping them, and they came within a few days.
If it's leaking on top of the sink, you may need a new spacer kit #1060800. This goes in right under your 1017426. (valve) OR you may need a new valve body (#1055824) Your best bet would be to call Kohler direct. They should make sure you're getting the right parts you need.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 42 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the Quality I expected I purchased this more than a year ago, but it was only installed 10 months ago. The hose no longer goes back in place automatically when you are finished using it, and sometimes when I switch to spray instead of stream, it does both. Neither of these seem to be warranty issues. I can only guess what it will be like on a faucet I thought would last for years. Though I do many things myself, this was beyond my ability level and I had it professionally installed. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FABULOUS FAUCET! We've had this faucet 5 years now, and with our constant use, it still looks, and works like we just put it in. I agree totally with those who have listed so many of the nice features, but the one that we like best hasn't been mentioned! The faucet swivels up higher, and NOT at the sink level. We live in a 100 year old house, that has hard, well water, along with a high iron content. Even with a water softener, if water was splashed on to the top of the sink, the deposits would cause normal faucets to 'freeze', so they couldn't be turned from one sink to the other. There's no problem with this one, since it doesn't swivel at that base. WONDERFUL! A few weeks ago, we had our first problem. The connector hose to faucet handle broke. NO PROBLEM! We called Kohler, and within a FEW DAYS, we received the parts, right DURING THE BUSY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY shipping season!! And at no cost to us what-so-ever! We've had no problem with the soap dispenser at all. (always fill it from the top, which is so easy) As for the hose not retracting... no problems with that either... once we realized we needed to check under the sink, to make sure it wasn't getting caught on shut off valves or other plumbing! One more thing... the on/off switch on the spray head makes watering plants a breeze too!! January 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value, aesthetic, and function We recently purchased a house (built circa 2000). This faucet was installed and was leaking from the head and handle. We found another one (I'm assuming the original) on a shelf in the garage. So it appears, from this limited sample size, that we can expect to replace the one we just installed in about 7 years. I can live with that. The design is clean and aesthetic; the operation is simple and works well. This model doesn't have the magnetic docking mechanism for the head, but drooping has not been a problem so I am glad that I didn't shell out the extra money. The installation is VERY easy; I've probably installed 10-15 faucets and this was one of the simpler ones to work with. Overall, I don't know that paying 2-4 times as much is worth it. As long as we get 5-10 years out of this unit, I'll likely purchase again. Perhaps with better management of our water hardness (the previous owner seems to have been spotty on that front) and some basic maintenance it will last even longer. September 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Faucet This is a very nice faucet, love it I would highly recommend it. September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simplice faucet Very pleased with this faucet. Its the second one we have purchased. Does not have the newer magnetic docking, but any issues with the faucet head retracting can be adjusted by repositioning the weight that pulls the faucet head back into the neck. August 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great look! I love the look of this faucet, we wanted a clean, simple look - so I guess the name "Simplice" fits it well. We did not use the soap dispenser. There is another Simplice that does not have the dispenser, but it was $100 more! Besides that, the only other difference I could find was that it mentioned a system that pulls the spray back up & in when done. When ordered at Home Depot, the representative was reading the specs. on this one & seemed to think that it had the system too So, it doesn't & the spray doesn't get pulled back ii like I'd hoped Ii don't think that locking system is worth $100 - isn't everyone on a budget? I now noticed a small scratch toward the back of the arch, & don't know yet if I will attempt to replace it. It's only been a couple weeks & it would be such a pain to remove & replace at this point!! April 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We love the faucet! We are very happy with the Simplice faucet. The design is beautiful and the quality of the product is great. Excellent customer service from Kohler - thank you! July 1, 2015
