Either way but much easier to fill up from the top. Just pull on the top pice of the soap handle. Be sure not to knock off the straw. Fill up soap through the base that's attached to the sink and put the handle back in….Too bad I found this out later rather than sooner

It's hard to say, since you said it's leaking 'all over the place'. Not sure if it's leaking under the sink, or on top of the sink. I had a problem with the hose from the lever assembly to the faucet head. The quick coupling connector was rubbed by the brass weight that pulls the faucet head back into place. That caused it to leak under the sink when the water was turned on, and no water came out of the faucet. I ordered the hoses for the handle assembly to the faucet head, and a few other parts that looked corroded under the sink from Kohler. (call their 1-800 number) There was no charge for these parts, or for shipping them, and they came within a few days.
If it's leaking on top of the sink, you may need a new spacer kit #1060800. This goes in right under your 1017426. (valve) OR you may need a new valve body (#1055824) Your best bet would be to call Kohler direct. They should make sure you're getting the right parts you need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FABULOUS FAUCET! We've had this faucet 5 years now, and with our constant use, it still looks, and works like we just put it in. I agree totally with those who have listed so many of the nice features, but the one that we like best hasn't been mentioned! The faucet swivels up higher, and NOT at the sink level. We live in a 100 year old house, that has hard, well water, along with a high iron content. Even with a water softener, if water was splashed on to the top of the sink, the deposits would cause normal faucets to 'freeze', so they couldn't be turned from one sink to the other. There's no problem with this one, since it doesn't swivel at that base. WONDERFUL! A few weeks ago, we had our first problem. The connector hose to faucet handle broke. NO PROBLEM! We called Kohler, and within a FEW DAYS, we received the parts, right DURING THE BUSY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY shipping season!! And at no cost to us what-so-ever! We've had no problem with the soap dispenser at all. (always fill it from the top, which is so easy) As for the hose not retracting... no problems with that either... once we realized we needed to check under the sink, to make sure it wasn't getting caught on shut off valves or other plumbing! One more thing... the on/off switch on the spray head makes watering plants a breeze too!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Two MAJOR Issues with this Faucet This product looks great, fit perfectly, and was an absolute dream to install. Then things got ugly. I have had to discontinue the use of the soap dispenser because it doesn't work well (as in it won't pump out soap), plus there is a constant drip of soap around its base. Second, the operational lever assembly heats up and basically siezes if I'm running hot water through it for more than a few seconds. At that point, you can't turn it easily or adjust the flow, and it becomes loose, requiring that someone crawl underneath and tighten it. I am pretty disillusioned about these problems, based on the price and the quality that I have previously experienced with Kohler products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great, terrible quality Purchased faucet because of the look, and within one year the water pressure had fallen significantly. We didn't immediately think it was the faucet, and wrote it off. One more year later we noticed our counters flooding with water throughout the day and night, and we finally realized it was coming from the handle. Without a receipt Kohler wouldn't warranty (and they don't cover installation/repair). Home Depot was AWESOME! We removed the faucet, took it in to our local store and they quickly gave us store credit. I went with a Delta this time. The look isn't worth the hassle or expense!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Investment Bought faucet 4 yrs ago in anticipation of new granite countertops. Finally got granite and the faucet installed. It looks and works like a charm. Modern, quiet, easy. The plumber was very excited about installing it too! He asked where I bought it and said it was a very good brand and very high quality. Promised me I'd love it & so far I do. No problems with leaking or dripping. Love it. Great quality artistic look.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't hold up to the test of time I installed this faucet two years ago and found it has gradually deteriorated. The head is the big problem with the buttons slowly losing function of the water flow. Now when I push the buttons there is no change to the water. Out surfing to see if I can replace the head otherwise I'll be installing a new faucet tomorrow.
