I have this same sink in my bathroom. It is quite old and the porcelain glaze is damaged and stained. I am excited to find it available, but i want to know that the new rim will not give problems for the installation.

Answer:
At first, my contractor didn't think the metal rim would fit this cast iron sink, but the installer said it worked fine. Sink and frame fit in the old counter hole where the old Standard sink was replaced. See photo.

Answer:
This replaced my older rusty sink with no problems. The rim was exactly the same size with the same curves on the rounded corners. I would recommend either plumbers putty or GE Silicon II for placement on both sides of the rim.

Thank you for your inquiry. The metal rim (which is sold separately as K-6688-NA with a link to it below) does have punch outs around the frame, despite the customer review from 2007. There are no reported issues with the K-6688-NA punch outs missing, so there should be no problem in that regard. The punch outs are spaced differently to account for different sink rim thicknesses. We want to use this sink to replace an existing sink (same size), it will have tile framing the sink. Do we need to use the metal frame with the sink?

Answer:
The frame is necessary if you are replacing a sink of the same size and style. Without the frame the sink will fall through the original cutout in the counter top.

Answer:
Pros installed mine (replacement for an old Standard sink of the same size). My contractor first said that the metal frame was not for this sink, being narrower than the old metal frame, but the installers had no trouble installing it in the same hole as the old sink, using the new frame.

What is the finished size including the frame. I am trying to figure out if my old sink with the metal frame is exactly the same size as the Kohler.

Mine is 19x21 measuring with the frame. Since the frame is on top of the sink edge, I cannot tell the exact sink size. So, I have measured to the outsides of the metal frame in both directions. thank you.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality sink To replace an old Standard sink of the same size. With new optional metal frame. Had to get pros to install it, but it fit the old hole in the counter perfectly. Of course it cost too much. :-) But the free and speedy shipping helped... 2 days from Ohio to Texas. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This sink with the optional ring was a perfect replacement. This sink was a perfect replacement for the original rusty sink installed in 1962. If the direction are read with understanding the installation is simple. Since it is cast iron it is a little heavy. The sink is beautiful and I wish it were still available to replace another older sink. January 17, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by had to pick up from ups Product box was beaten up so bad 2 edges wear chipped. Haven't installed yet debatting on using or returning December 8, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by BEWARE The metal frame for this sink is a NEEDED EXTRA! Metal Frame is sold separately model #6688? (The KOHLER web site will tell you this.) Home Depot did get me the model #6688 frame but the sink could not fit into it. (This was a KOHLER problem because the directions that came with the model #6688 frame called for punch-outs that did not exist) I was replacing the same size sink and the old frame that I removed had the punch-outs. I don't think I'd buy WEB ONLY items again, but I needed the 20"X18" for this replacement. December 27, 2007
