I'm definitely no expert and it was very easy. Just turn off and disconnect the supply line to the toilet. Empty the tank. Unscrew the bolts holding the tank to the bowl and remove it. Remove the old gasket and clean the mating surfaces. Place the new gasket on the bowl and sit the tank on top of it. Line up and insert the screws back into the tank and attach it to the bowl. Answer:
Hello doer, I’m Chris from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
Turn off the water supply valve and flush the tank.
Then simply disconnect the water supply line to the tank.
Unscrew the 2 bolts that attach the tank to the bowl and turn it over.
Pull off the old seal and replace it with the new one.
Reassemble.
I hope this helps,
Chris.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really - rate a tank gasket!? one recent saturday afternoon, i realized my toilet was leaking water on to the bathroom floor. within an hour's time and the assistance of a handyman, we drove to home depot, i bought the thingy for under $10, he installed it and the toilet no longer leaks. it does what it is supposed to do. EXCELLENT! June 28, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as expected It seats and seals exactly as it should. Works flawlessly. July 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DryLock seal not so dry I have to replace this seal about ever two years. Seals for this toilet deteriorate over time and KOHLER has no idea why, but they are sorry. I have another cheap toilet brand in the house that has not needed a seal for over thirty years. Maybe some third party makes a seal for this tolet that works. The seal is hard for me to replace because the bolts need to be a little longer. February 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kohler Parts This is an exact replacement for the Kohler toilet tank seal. This product is only available through Home Depot and is an execellent value, the cost to repair was minimal because the gasket was a perfect fit and only took about 20 minutes to replace the seal. Customer service was very helpful to locate the item needed and checkout was a breeze!! Thanks HD for providing the right product at the right price and very speedily!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fits perfect! After some searching on line and matching up code numbers from the old gasket I was able to find this gasket at Home Depot on line market place. I had gone to the local Home Depot with the old gasket and asked one of the reps for a replacement. However, the rep stated that they do not carry the item anymore because of its large size. I then went to Lowes and they too did not have the correct replacement on their shelves. I then returned home and startd the Internet search at which time I was able to find and order the replacement gasket from the Home Depot I went to earlier in the day. I suppose the rep at the store did not know or was not thinking about the on line market place that I could use to find the item that was in fact at his store but not on the shelves. No worries, all is well and I was able to place the new gasket in and so far so good. It has been over a month now with no issues since replacement. October 28, 2014
