I replaced the batteries with Duracell Copper Top batteries because the toilet kept flushing. Now when I place my hand over the toilet it does not flush. I have to actually touch the toilet for it to flush. What other problem could be causing this to happen?

The instructions say to use alkaline batteries and I am not sure Duracell are alkaline. This could be the trouble. The spacing below the lid might be to much so I would move the unit closer to the top of the bowel so it is just about touching the bottom of the lid. Be Safe

Just curious how many folks are experiencing the phantom flushing described in many of the reviews. I had a unit installed in April and by May it started the phantom flushing. Tried various "fixes" including operation without the toilet lid on and replacing batteries to no avail.

If you've had the unit less than a month, you won't know if you'll have the problem, so no need to reply.

The device has been in the toilet for a month and a half. No phantom flushing yet. My wife set a basket of Toilet Paper over the flush area, which caused the flusher to flush. Moving that saved gallons of water. Try adjusting the box in the tank, Up would be best it moves the sensitivity past the lid this way. Think this will help. Be Safe.

Yes, the Phantom is real. The first device worked for almost a year before it began acting up. I replaced it and the second one began its phantom flush about 60 days later. It is the connections on the wires, which are not firmly seated into their sockets. Poor design, cheap manufacture.

It isn't the batteries. It is the connection, I think. When you open the device the wires are not firmly seated, so that is causing the malfunction. It isn't the battery and it certainly isn't anything you did. Try to wiggle the wires and get them better seated into the connectors.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We all love it The installation was simple. At first when I looked inside the box I thought I might struggle figuring out how to install it. But it turned out to be so simple I really didn't need the directions. I even used my old chain which made it even easier. My sister inlaw even got one because her husband is germaphobe. I did have to check where the 4 pads go and found out they stabilize the lid. I removed my handle and plugged the hole with the hole cover provided, my sister Inlaw left hers on. It even comes with 4 alkaline batteries which is a plus because many times you need to purchase them separate. I have pictures of my unit and my sister in laws so you can see the two different applications. I wouldn't have expected anything less from Kohler. April 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KOHLER Touchless Toilet Flush Kit I installed this KOHLER Touchless Toilet Flush Kit in our guest bath room wanted to have our guest comfortable and also wanted to keep thins sanitize. this KOHLER Touchless Toilet Flush Kit is a great idea as to not have every one touch the flusher before washing hands. Keeping any germs away form each guest as they use the restroom. No more touching no more germs on the handle . March 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by germophobes rejoice! Installation was much easier than I imagined. The directions are clear and easy to follow. It is easily hung from the tank and connected to the existing flush mechanism. Install the batteries, put the lid back on the tank and it's ready to go. They even provide a sticker for the top of the tank so it is obvious where you need to pass your hand over to flush the toilet. I found the sensor is good at detecting when to flush. March 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great value Easy to install and works great. Have 5 toilets goingse July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love the touchless experience The touch-less kit is a breeze to install. Any DIYer can mount it easily. It does not require any plumbing skills, I followed the installation instructions and everything worked out just fine. All it does is spins the kit’s wheel assembly one time when it senses a movement above the sensor area. Due to its spinning motion, the chain lifts the flapper and that triggers the flush. So, the whole purpose of it is to engage the flapper assembly much like when you press the handle and the chain lifts the flapper. If your toilet flapper empties out the entire tank on each flush, it will still do that. Only difference? It will do that with motion detection. I had been using a toilet tank that actually came with the similar kit pre-installed. It had worked really well for 8+ months and then one day it started triggering the flush without someone triggering it. So, I installed this kit as a replacement to my original and so far it is working fine. I talked to Kohler about it and the company suggests that it could happen if moisture is trapped in the battery housing. I analyzed the old battery housing and I believe it to be the case. 2nd, I have noticed that the sensing area range shrinks as the kit becomes older. When it was new, it could sense my hand from 6-7 inches away. As it became older, it could sense only when the hand was within 3-4 inches range. But still, I am not touching any surface and the experience is still touch-less. In my overall experience, touch-less experience is priceless and I love the product, love the brand, Kohler customer service is prompt and does her best to resolve if any issues arise and for that I recommend it. February 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The Kit That Lets You Touch Less **Please watch my included video showing this product in action.** The Kohler Touchless Toilet Flush Kit allows you to easily convert almost any standard toilet into a touchless toilet - no more handles to push. Installation is a breeze. Follow the easy-to-understand instructions and you'll be done in no more than 10 minutes. You have the option to leave the traditional handle in place so that the toilet can be operated as a traditional or touch-free toilet, but, really, what's the point of going touchless if people can still choose the old-school option. My only reason for not giving this Touchless Flush Kit a 5/5 is that the sensor seems a bit weak to me. I have to hold my hand within 1" of the toilet and can't wave my hand too quickly over it, so isn't totally quick and convenient. That being said, though, I still appreciate the convenience, cleanliness, and, let's be honest, novelty of having my toilet be touchless. December 28, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It works, but the range to sense your hand is not that great I do recommend this product but there could be a few improvements to make it better. Install is easy and only takes a few minutes. The improvement I would like to see is more options on how it can be installed so it works better with more toilets. The bracket that attached the unit to the tank basically only allow for one type of install configuration. I looked at the three toilet I have in my home and it would only really install and work well on one of them. One a a no go completely and the one I did install it on for the most part works. The challenge of the install it to get the top of the unit to be as close as possible to underside of the tank lid. The bracket supplied to install the unit only allow for height adjustments. There is no way to adjust for a non-vertical tank wall or to move the unit closer to the center of the tank. For my install I ended up bending the bracket and make it work, but still can not get it right against the underside of the tank lid. As a result you need to almost touch the tank lid to activate it. So most people just touch the sticker on the lid or say it does not work that see it. If the mounting hardware had more options and was improved I would give it another star. January 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Upscale for master bath My husband installed the Kohler touchless toilet flush kit in under 30 minutes. We have a new Kohler toilet in our master bathroom, and the kit installed very easily. The kit comes with everything required except 4 AA batteries. It requires emptying the tank to remove the water and then placing the module into the tank on a bracket. The use of a pliers is required to remove extra chain links. Several options are offered, and we chose to keep the hand flush option plus the touchless option. A sound happens when a hand is placed over the unit. It is so nice to just reach over the tank to flush the toilet. Feels very upscale. A sticker is also included if desired to place on top of the tank to signal where to flush. The kit can be placed either right or left in the tank. November 16, 2015
