Customer Questions & Answers

to mount it do you drill thru th tile and screw into the studs for a grab bar. How does it mount?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello doe and thank you for your question. The instructions for installing the KOHLER Transitional 32 in. Concealed Grab Bar can be found here: http://www.us.kohler.com/webassets/kpna/catalog/pdf/en/1092954_2.pdf. Page 6 shows how to drill through ceramic tile. * The wall plates on the grab bar must be mounted to a brace between the wall studs. Doing so will ensure that the weight of the user is adequately supported. * Apply silicone sealant into the drilled holes before securing the wall plates to the finished surface. This will reduce the risk of water damage behind the finished surface. * Apply silicone sealant into the drilled holes before securing the grab bar to the finished surface. This will reduce the risk of water damage behind the finished surface. * Apply light, even pressure to avoid cracking the tile. Use a 3/16″ or #12 drill bit to drill through the tile. Do not drill into the bracing. Best wishes on your project.
