We continually had issues in our powder bathroom. Every party we had ended up with a backed up toilet. We changed the guts of a low flow toilet to a standard flow and that helped, but the damage was already done. We had to do repair work in the bathroom and decided to start over with a new toilet. This one is awesome. The noise isn't atrocious as other reviews make it seem. Yes, it is louder than and average toilet, but it is more just because the water has more umph behind it. It scared my 5 year old the first time she flushed, but no one else has been freaked out by it. I now don't have to have a nasty plunger in my pretty powder bathroom!

This toilet is the superman of toilets. For another house I ordered an American Standard version of this pressure flush toilet and while it's nice, the "hole" or whatever is smaller than the Kohler which results in a two-flush dance to get everything down. The Kohler just BAM! and everything is ejected from this planet into the dusky netherworld beyond.

Great product for what it's designed for. The flush sound is a little louder than I anticipated but easy to get used to and live with. I'm rating the toilet quality average as the FlushMate unit inside the tank was installed incorrectly with mis-threading through the bottom of tank that caused the flushing handle/bar to not depress the power plunger. Once I rethreaded the Flushrmate properly - it was aligned and flushing mechanism worked fine. This would be a quality issue for Kohler - not Sloan, the makers of the Flushmate.

I already wrote a review for this (3 stars), and wanted to amend it, but HD won't let me so I made a new account. Anyway, I bought it about a year ago, and here is my experience:
1) WAY too loud. Picture the loudest commercial toilet you've ever heard: it's about that loud. Let's put it this way, if you flush the toilet with the bathroom door and bedroom doors open, you'll violently wake everyone up. People downplay the loudness probably more because of buyer's remorse than anything else. So unless this thing goes in a basement, or somewhere where it won't cause noise issues, then go for it. Otherwise, find something much quieter.
2) We had a leaky tank inside the unit, and I had to call the manufacturer to get it repaired. They were very helpful, but it was a little disconcerting that I had to repair it within a few months of buying it.
3) Now, the handle sticks in the "on" position. Kind of like how old toilets will sometimes keep running and running until you jiggle the handle a little? That's exactly what's going on here... only since it's a super high-tech plastic air tank thing, I have absolutely no idea how to troubleshoot it. This will require yet another phone call to the manufacturer, and hopefully they don't throw some "out of warranty" business at me, or we're gonna have a problem.
Anyway, I have changed my mind about this toilet. I do NOT recommend buying it. More for the noise thing than the build quality thing, as I think the quality issues are a one-off.

The old toilet could barely flush toilet paper, and needed plunged at least once a week.
The new one was no more difficult to install than any other toilet. In fact, it was easier, because none of the insides need to be installed.
When ordering, remember that it doesn't come with a seat. We reused ours since it was like new.
The pressure assist "Flush" is very different than a typical toilet. We've had it for a month, and are still getting used to it. It's a little loud, but I'll take that over the plunger any day. It flushes solid waste easily.
The cost seams a little high, but well worth it.

This is a powerful toilet that will solve your clogging problems. No more need to keep a plunger next to the toilet and pray that you won't have to be using it every time you go to the bathroom. It's not clog proof, you still can if you try hard enough, but I don't think the vast majority of people will have any problem. Also the bowl stays pretty clean, which is always nice. Nothing is worse than a clogged toilet, and it always happens at the worst times. There are some things in your house you need to just work, assuming the water and electricity is working, and your toilets are at the top of the list along with your hot water heater, washer dryer, cooking appliances, refrigerator.
Now the Cons: This toilet is rather expensive, you could buy three $100 dollar cheapos for the price of one of these. It's loud, it doesn't bother you when your expecting it, but if your asleep and someone flushes with the door open, close by, it will wake you up. I don't recommend this toilet for bathrooms inside the bedroom, like the master bedroom, it just too loud to use at night. Also longevity of this toilet is completely unknown to me, it's a big ? (question mark) We have hard water, will it slowly clog up the internals? I have to assume yes. How about gaskets and o rings? Those have to be changed on gravity fed toilets eventually, what about this? I expect I will be dealing with some issues down the road, hopefully I will get 5 years+ out of these and I will be satisfied. Lastly, just getting this toilet was a nightmare as it kept coming in with a broken tank to HD. I had to order it three times, and on the third attempt I ordered two of them, one came broken, one came intact, so I kept the intact one. Then after I installed it I noticed the flush lever wouldn't reach the trip lever inside the tank because the whole unit had been installed slanted inside the ceramic tank, called Kohler and they gave me a letter to have another complete tank sent to me. It was a lot of hassel. But my alternative would be to keep plunging toilets for the rest of my life and I took the lesser of two evils.
Yes I do still recommend, but be aware of what your getting into, good luck.

I've had some friends and family spend money on what they thought were high end toilets to only be disappointed with the flushing power. I didn't want to be disappointing so I went for the pressure assist type. My wife gave me a hard time about spending so much money on a toilet but even she agrees that it was worth the money. My only complaints are that it didn't come with a seat. It would have been nice to have a seat that matches the size perfectly. Also the instructions could have been better about how to adjust things and how the pressure assist works.

Honestly I would only recommend this toilet if it is going to be installed in a house with EXCELLENT insulation (sound proofing), and if it will be located in a somewhat remote part of the house. Unfortunately I made the mistake of installing this in my 2nd floor bathroom that has a window in the front of my house and you can literally hear the toilet flush from down the street. That is not an exaggeration either. I walked down the sidewalk, 3 houses away, and had my fiancee flush the toilet with the window open and I heard it crystal clear. I am very disappointed in my decision to buy this thing since my neighbors will all be very aware of my bathroom habits. Also, you can FEEL the toilet flush from anywhere in the house too. So, as long as you're totally comfortable with everyone knowing exactly when you flush, I would say go for it.
