Customer Questions & Answers

can i use a garbage disposal with this?

Yes you can! We installed one ourselves with it and it works wonderful. Just make sure you have enough room under your sink because it is lower than most sinks.

Will this model fit in a cabinet with an inside width of 33 1/2"?

This model says that it works for a 36" base cabinet, which is what I have. However, I believe that the inside width of my cabinet may be smaller than a standard 36" cabinet. It is only 33 1/2" wide. I would like to purchase this model, but I am wondering if I should get the smaller 32" sink instead.
Asked by: Megan
Yes, the inner bowl is only just over 30". 36" is the measurement from edge to edge, and the edges can rest on the cabinet top.

The -0 on the end just specifies what color. 0 is white.

I'm worried this is too deep to fit my cabinet. Is it 9" on the outside, or just inside?

Asked by: Anonymous
It's really nine inches - the 7inch is a better sink base fit - but that 9 inch front is dramatic. The cost of buying a custom base is worth the look.

Whitehaven Undermount Farmhouse Apron-Front Cast Iron 36 in. Single Bowl Kitchen Sink in White is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Centerpiece of our kitchen We are so pleased with our farmhouse sink. It’s a bit pricey but absolutely beautiful and worth every penny as the focal point of our brand new kitchen. It looks amazing in our white kitchen with our shaker cabinets. The slope of the sink helps water and scraps drain easily (we have a garbage disposal) and the big basin is great for washing large pots and pans. It's also comforting to know that for such an expensive item, it is backed by a great warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and Functional Apron-Front Sink If you’re looking for a great apron-front cast iron sink at a reasonable price, this is the one. We’ve had an undermount cast iron sink in our 1940’s craftsman kitchen for the past decade and so we’ve gotten to know what doesn’t work when it comes with large sinks. The Whitehaven addresses all those points. First, the floor of the sink has the right amount of slope. Having a large sink without enough slope is a real pain because you spend a lot of time scooping and sweeping things like errant coffee grounds into the drain. Second, for an undermount sink it’s a real pain to have a lip around the inside edge as dirt tends to accumulate there as well. This sink allows you to mount it flush below the opening so that’s not a problem. Finally, it can be a challenge working an apron-front sink into an existing set of cabinets. In this case the Whitehaven is a perfect choice. You have a template to guide cutting out the face of your cabinets below the old sink. The apron-front has an overlap so that your rough cut opening is hidden and doesn’t have to be perfect. In terms of supporting the sink, rather than suspending it from the counter top it also has support points so that you can put studs under the sides so the weight is carries straight downwards. All of those put together make this ideal for a retro-fit. The finish on the sink is beautiful. I’ve thoroughly inspected it and don’t see any flaws. This thing is a beast and looks like it’ll last for another 80 years at least. The instructions are clear and there’s are nice full size templates for cutting the face of your cabinets and for cutting the opening in your counter top. The only concern I have is how the sink ships. It’s about 140 lbs. but it comes in just a cardboard box with some minimal pieces of foam and cardboard reinforcements at the corners. The carrier broke two sinks before I was able to get one delivered intact. That one only arrived in good shape because they took the already large box and put it in a larger box with expanding foam around it! Perhaps it’s just my local guy but he had a tendency to drop the sink box onto our porch and at that point the sink flexes and the porcelain cracks. So now I just need to figure out to do with two extra sinks that have severe cracking. It looks like at least one other reviewer here had the same experience so I’d really like to see Kohler address this issue. Note: this is a pre-install review. I’ll revise this review once I have installed and lived with the sink for a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!!! We love this sink. We previously had a stainless steel apron-front sink. We love how this one performs compared to our old one. It drains much easier and doesn't leave behind food or dirty dish water. The edges of the sink are easier to keep clean. So far the finish is holding up and not showing any signs of wear. We also love the look and receive multiple compliments from guests. It was very easy to install. Huge improvement over our previous sink.

My wife and I are building our forever home, so we needed something that would last. We both liked the look of an apron sink. I'm a big fan of Kohler products, made in the USA by an American company. The finish is beautiful, everyone who notices it comments, but its not something that jumps up and smacks you in the face either. Be sure to get the right apron height for your cabinet, there is a 9" front and a 7" front. The single bowl is great for soaking large dishes and pans. It is expensive, but this is one case where I really think you get what you pay for. When people say "they don't make them like they used to", clearly they never saw this sink.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Sink This sink is absolutely beautiful and will definitely become the center of attention to visitors of your kitchen. It is very spacious for washing larger and obscurely shaped pots, pans, dishes and bowls. It is indeed VERY heavy (140 pounds) and will need ample structural support from your cabinetry. This is definitely a two person job for installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Kitchen Addition I love the look and design of this sink! It has the temporary "modern farm house feel" with out all of the kitchen modifications/ adjustments that would usually come with installing a farm house sink. I mentioned it has a farm house feel, but it is not as deep as a farm house sink (this is why those adjustments don't have to be made. The white glossy finish is so easy to keep clean and looks nice and fresh. Note: installation will most likely require two people due to the size and weight of the product, however the effort is worth it! Once you get it installed you will be glad you did.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still trying to get an intact one Packing from the factory is terrible. The first one was delivered in a box, not on a pallet and the front left corner was damaged. This 200 pound sink should be strapped to a pallet. My entire kitchen project is stalled awaiting reshipment.
