I need detailed, step-by-step, instructions on how to set up and release this tie-down. My eyesight is very poor and I cannot read the small print. I tried several ways to test it but could not make it secure.

Open the lever part until flat. Slide strap through slot in chrome post in the middle of the ratcheting section. Pull excess strap until all slack is removed. With your finger, pull lever near post that is holding the strap. Ratchet until tight. Tie off excess, so as not to have it drag on the ground or flap around anything that could be damaged. To release, pull same lever and open, it will go until it is flat with the other half of the ratchet mechanism. Depress lever on short strap side, similar to lever that opened the mechanism. This will release the post, which releases the strap.

there is a slot on the silver post inside the black ratcheting mechanism. With the mechanism flat, you should be able to easily slide the strap in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked for what I needed it to do. Item is good quality, I used it to hold a dresser together while glue was drying. It's hard to release tho, so be aware of that.
