This is organic, one of the only ones you can find these days at a chain store. I purchased 8 bags of this to put in pots and large raised wooden planters. l Iost a lot of plants to this horrible stuff, found it was WAY too wet. I dug out all my plants and mixed in perlite and replanted and re started seeds. It is still way too wet and I am not watering. I live in fort worth and we have had rain with nice breaks in between and sunshine. It is so bad, when I dumped a pot it smelled like swamp! I lost my plants, they were yellow and stunted and stressed to the point of disease. I wouldn't use this to fill in holes my dogs dig!

Patio Plus is a really excellent soil with a heavy bark content. Bark doesn't break down as fast as peat, so your soil lasts a lot longer before needing to be replaced. If you're choosing between this and Miracle Gro, definitely choose Patio Plus. The picture is of my dozens of blackberries and raspberries planted in 15 gallon bags and Patio Plus. They were only baby bareroots just a few months ago, now they're over 6ft tall and packed with berries.

Bought it yesterday in store. I like the texture of this soil as it will give good drainage. Though I will mix whatever left in bag with different soil next time .
What I did not like about it was very strong odor - it smells like manure and chemicals all together. It is too strong to me. I planted rose yesterday and now I can not sit on patio without felling this strong smell. I used to buy this soil before and I do not remember it having this problem. I wonder how long it will take for this smell to fade away.

My wife tried planting some dill, tomato, and basil starts in the Patio Plus, as opposed to mixing our own soil, as we normally do. The first thing I noticed about the soil mix was how woody it is. Through my years of gardening, I have repeatedly heard warnings about using woody mulches and soil mixes, as wood that isn't aged enough locks up Nitrogen, a VERY necessary nutrient for growing plants. Everything she planted in the Kellogg mix sprouted, then stunted. And stayed like that for almost a month, without growing at all, until we scrapped it and went with our own organic soil mix, which has always worked wonders for us, if we're not being too lazy to mix! But, my own is what I'll be sticking with from now on....Aurora Green Fields soil mix is great stuff, too!

I am using this product in conjunction with Kellogg's Raised Bed and Potting mix, as well as some coir mixed in to lighten the mix for my containers, as I am physically disabled and must use a medical scooter to get around now. I am using both standard plastic containers as well as plastic grow bags. I like the fact that I don't have to go to the store to pick out what I want/need, it's all right there on the website with detailed descriptions as well. It makes it sooo much easier for me that way! I'm having a pretty good season right now, yes, in parts of AZ we can grow quite a few veggies and herbs as we have pretty mild winters in the Phoenix Metro area. I do have to say, will all the things that are inside this soil, it appears to be pretty nice soil. I do have to say also that I will not be getting any more of the "Raised Bed and Potting Mix" that Kellogg makes as it had a fine coating of mold on the soil when I opened the bag and I've had a lot of problems with fungus gnats since using it. I've had to spray with Neem oil several times already, which seems to help. But they keep coming back. Generally I like the product line from Kellogg's. Very good price as well.

I have been buying and using this product since I discovered it a couple of years ago. It is a great value, is useable right from the bag and grew some terrific vegetables and herbs. I have found nothing else this good anywhere close to the same price. The organic goodies in it will feed your plants for several weeks with no added fertilizers.

I'm a first time vegetable gardener. I used the Patio Plus potting soil to grow some Jalapeños, Poblano Peppers, Bell Peppers, and three types of Tomatoes (Sweet 100, Bush & Celebrity), in five gallon buckets. I was pleased with the results. They all did well. Good yield. I plan on using it again.

I've ben propagating my own plants successfully for 20 years in Supersoil Potting mix. This year no Supersoil, so I switched to Kellogs patio plus, and 100% of my starts have died. All of them. The plants I've repotted in Patio Plus have not given me that surge of growth that I usually see with Supersoil. I buy so many bags of soil every year, so value is a concern for me, and Supersoil was a fantastic value. Kellogs is more expensive, and is missing something vital to the life of a thriving plant. this is just not OK.
