Product Overview

Kellogg Garden Organics All Natural N'Rich Soil Enriching Conditioner is formulated for all soil types. As a soil amendment, it should be mixed with your native soil for in-ground planting. Its woody texture helps establish strong roots and allow native soil to better retain moisture. By adding this great organic material to your soil, it forms small pockets for air and water to travel and helps loosen hard clay soils. Your bare root trees, lawns, flowers, and shrubs will all benefit from Kellogg's N'Rich. It can also be used as a stand-alone mulch to help retain moisture under trees, shrubs, and planting beds. Kellogg's N'Rich is a crafted mix of aged arbor fines, composted chicken manure and kelp meal that work together creating a terrific growing environment where all of your plants will thrive. All Natural N'Rich, like all of Kellogg's Garden Products, is listed with the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). OMRI reviews all ingredients direct from the source, ensuring it is compliant, meeting the standards set by the USDA's National Organic Program. Look for the OMRI logo on all of Kellogg's soil and fertilizer bags for credible organic products. Kellogg Garden Products has been a family owned and operated business since 1925. We produce organic soils and fertilizers using natural, earth-friendly ingredients from local sources, helping you to be a more successful gardener - organically.

Customer Questions & Answers

Are aged arbor fines basically composted?

Asked by: JS
You can think of them as being partially composted. They're kept at the same temperature as compost and with the same microbes, but not for as long a period of time.

It's for adding structure into existing soil, a soil conditioner. For instance, they recommend mixing in 2 inches into the soil of your raised beds. You still need to add nutrients like fertilizer, manure, or high quality compost. People who gave it a bad review probably didn't look at the ingredients: Aged recycled forest products (shredded and partially composted lumber), aged arbor fines (shredded and partially composed branches/leaves), composted chicken manure, gypsum (for breaking up clay soil). dolomite & oyster shell lime for ph adjustment, and kelp meal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pretty much just Municipal Mulch Product is just municipal green waste fragments that have not even been composted much. If you live in L.A. the Solid Waste Progam gives away better stuff for Free. The bag promises that the product contains Bat guano, Kelp extract and a host of other very good things. However they must be there in trace amounts, because you can't see them in the soil analysis of the product. Let's start with a chemical analysis: rapitest Soil Test Kit # 1601 - pH 6.5 - 7, Nitrogen - NO Indication, Phosphorous - P1/2 - Depleted, Potassium - K4 - Surplus; rapitest 1815 mini pH Tester pH 6.8; rapitest 1818 mini 4 in 1 Tester pH 6.9

Rated 4 out of 5 by from mix it i like the texture of this product because it prevents the garden soil from clumping together and promotes excellent aeration and moisture holding capacity but.... its not really a compost its more like very fine wood chips or large sawdust. so i mix it with equal parts of Supersoil compost from Home Depot, which doesn't have enough carbon in it to enhance soil structure imo but it does have better nutrients. then i also add steer manure and composted chicken manure also. if i have a bed of about 4 ft by 15 ft for the first year i add about 7 bags of this Kellogg compost (21 cu ft), 7 bags of Supersoil compost (14 cu ft), 21 bags of steer manure (1 cu ft ea) and about 3-4 bags of chicken manure (1 cu ft ea). The plants grow like heck and the soil structure is excellent, water holding capacity excellent so i have to water less frequently and the soil is nice and soft so the plants can send roots down deeper to get water and nutrients.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Soil Amendment We always get our garden and planters ready for winter by adding in soil amendments and fertilizers. This size is a great value. It is tightly compacted, yet crumbles and mixes in easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Next best to homemade compost I have found this the next best thing to my compost. It has a good mix of nutrients/ I found it has a little too much wood product therefore my bed seem to grow mushrooms and I really do not want them in my veggie garden.I did not need customer service or shipping as I knew what I wanted before I got to the store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Recycled lumber mulch, not compost The bag say compost but it contains fine wood chips with a hint of manure smell. I tried using in raised beds and large pots but the plants didn't do so well. I tried tilling it with clay soil to help loosen them but that did not work. Once the surface is dried, water isn't easily absorbed and runs off. The chip range from about 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide by 1/4 to 2 inches long. I've found some pieces with one painted or stained side which suggest these are probably from recycle lumber. I will not buy this again. I can't recommend using this for anything except mulch or for pathways.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not impressed This isn't compost, but it's a fairly decent mulch if you don't mind paying double for a sack of organic wood chips. This is nowhere near to finished compost. Nutrient analysis for N-P-K came out about the same as another reviewer here. Ph around 6.8, nitrogen almost non existent, and Phos/Pot in the middle bands. I gave it one star each for 1. being better than the dirt in my yard, and 2. it's OMRI certified. I would buy any other brand before buying this again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mushrooms! Well, I put about 3 inches of this in a 13x5' flower bed. It was very woody. I have a lot of mushrooms growing everywhere but my plants are really amazing. I did put a layer of Beats Peat down over it for looks but other than that WOW!
