This product is priced approximately the same as muriatic acid sold in pool supply stores, but the concentration is half. Because the price is approximately the same, and because the concentration is half, the price of this product is double compared to that purchased from pool supply stores.

I thought I would save money buying for the pool from Home Depot instead of the pool store. WRONG! Roughly the same cost as pool store but it's HALF the strength.
Home Depot: $9.98 for 2 gal. at 14.5% acid.
Leslies Pool: $9.99 for 2 gal. at 31% acid.
... same price, half the strength from Home Depot.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Daragh Very weak Muriatic Acid
This stuff will work however you will need to use twice the dosage. Most muriatic acid dosages are based on ~30% concentration of acid, this stuff is ~14%. It will work just be aware its very weak acid concentration.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Phil Great stuff for your swimming pool
Great stuff for adjusting the pH of your swimming pool- which is what the information clearly stated this product is for. I would encourage folks to actually read the box or label prior to purchasing for a use other than what the manufacturer intended it for.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MountainMike Will NOT WORK FOR METAL CLEANING!!
Save your money if you were planning to get REAL Muriatic acid... this stuff is about as strong as vinegar!
I bought the two-gallon pack and plan to return it to HD, since it WILL NOT "etch" or clean steel or metal parts, which is what Muriatic acid was originally sold for. This junk does not even "fume" or produce a vapor when poured out into a basin to etch metals. I have purchased Hydrochloric (Muriatic) acid from HD before that was the strength that it should be, but not this stuff. Pure Junk!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by alboy Does the job of lowering pool pH
Does the job! It lowers your pool pH. If you need to add it at the same time as liquid chlorine, add this FIRST then wait several hours.
