Sturdy yet elegant, this tower-like fountain makes a great addition to our porch. It works well at the click of a remote control, as we sit within the confines of our home with window closed or, of course, on the porch itself. Best of all is that it doesn't require electricity because it's powered by the sun.
A fountain by its very nature encourages serenity, and this one is no exception.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 83cky Looks great but doesn't stay running more than 2 hours at a time.
I am happy with the way the fountain looks. I am really unhappy that the fountain only runs about 2 to 2.5 hours and then shuts off. This occurs even during very sunny days. We have never seen the lights on at night.

Hard to balance it on a deck. Should have adjustable legs.

We had been looking for a while for a fountain as a water source for the birds but preferred solar so as not to increase the electric bill. This one has a nice wide bowl, not too deep with plenty of perching area for birds to drink from without falling in. When we received it we followed the directions to charge it in the sun for 6 hours. We charged it that whole afternoon in the bright sun and into the following afternoon. The instructions said to add 8/10 of a gallon of water. After all this we turned it on and it ran for maybe a minute and quit. We let it sit in the sun for another day and a half, added enough water to fill it right to the top of the bowl (probably at least 2 more gallons?) and then hit the remote to turn it on. This time it worked and stayed on for 3 hours before it automatically shuts off. We found that ours doesn't like to stay on for more than 20 minutes in the early morning or later afternoon and evening. We have seen it light up at night but it doesn't really stay on for long in the darkness so we don't know what the point is of having a light. We also put 3 landscape bricks inside the base of the unit as it is rather lightweight and this helps to keep it from tipping over in the wind - so far so good and we have alot of wind here. Does it matter that it doesn't run constantly? Kind of, but it runs long enough to keep water circulating so mosquitoes don't lay their eggs. We fill it up to the brim daily due to evaporation and that seems to helps keep it going for the full 3 hours. We do wish that there had been better instructions with it to explain all these quirks instead of having to figure them out on our own. Other than that, it's a nice looking fountain, the birds seem to like it (with or without the fountain running constantly) and that was our main reason for buying it so it serves its purpose.
