Answer:
Bill, these are planters, your soil goes directly into them. I used 6 large bags of organic soil in mine and added more after planting. There is a channel running underneath the container for bottom watering with a perfect drain.

Answer:
It is a heavy duty plastic resin. You put dirt in the planter. You could put pots but the bed is 11 inches deep so the pots would need to be big and if you wanted to move the bed, they would tip over. It kind of defeats the purpose of the garden bed.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Please...give it a good 6 months, and then post a review! Leaked after 6 months! Okay folks....growing tired of all the people posting reviews immediately after they receive and set-up their product. "Oh...look at my wonderful pictures of my new herb garden with the freshly planted vegetables!" Of course it's gonna look great out of the box with freshly planted herbs! How about posting an honest review 6 months to a year after the fact. After all, we're not purchasing a "Temporary herb garden." Here's the honest scoop. I live in the Arizona Desert, and the garden is underneath my patio. No direct sunlight. It was also filled about 1/2 way with soil, so not at capacity. Yeah...looked great after about 6 months. After 6 months, here's what you can expect.: Water started to leak out of the front. It's starts with one leak and then multiplies. I now have 4 separate leaks. Herbs start to die. Some do well, some die immediately. "But what about the pictures on-line? Yeah...those are just pictures. I think the water meetering system is just off and the garden gets too much water. I've seen the leaf meeter all the way down, and the soil is still moist. I've had two separate pots of basil die in this. Yes...basil, which is supposed to be bomb proof in the AZ desert. Nothing "Easy Grow" about this. I'm going to try and warranty this out. Not sure what I would do different with a new one. Maybe line the inside with tar? Just don't want to contaminate my herbs and vegetables. February 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1st Time Gardener The best decision I made is buying 2 of these garden beds. The leaf meter thing is very helpful so your not playing a guessing game on how much to water.Great product, made in Israel. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it and so does the wife Love the product not the price at home depot, saw it at another major retailer for $50 less. May 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor packing planter is fine. Surprised it arrived undamaged. You need to improve sloppy work in packing. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The product is better than I imagined. Built solid. Love the reservoir under the dirt living in the desert you don't always water as much as you should. It's also attractive January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Garden Bed This was so easy to put together. I am going to use it in my kitchen by the window to grow herbs and other plants. Great buy! December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for 93 year old Mother Easy to assemble. Was just the right height for my very short 93-year old Mother to pick tomatoes, peppers, lettuce. We bought two. Wish it had wheels, though, so I could move it to the carport for winter protection. Like the ability to adjust the amount of water in the garden. November 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great raised garden Took no time to assemble, looks great. Water system makes growing the plants easy and the plants seem to love it. It was the price. Will love not crawling on the ground to garden. November 3, 2015
