Answer:
It needs a level surface. Pea gravel or a cement pad would be ideal. A wood platform would also work. as long as it is waterproof on it's own (the shed will not protect it.) If you are in the desert and had a dead flat spot with good drainage, you could probably build on the ground with nothing, but ymmv

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not a bad deal I received the item, it comes in two large boxes. After opening the boxes, the first trick was to find the assembly instructions. They were buried deep among all the parts. NOTE TO KETER - Put the instructions where they can be seen. The instructions use basically picture diagram. There is no verbage which I did not have a problem with. It took me about 2 hours to set the shed up, all went pretty well. The only portion that requires a 2nd person is when you have to screw the roof to the main frame. The screws push up on the roof and cannot grip. I used a drill and made a small pilot hole which worked fine. PROS: Easy to set up and assemble. CONS: Most of the screw seem not to grip as you screwed them in. All-in-all - Nice shed and it looks good. I have to secure mine to the base, but I think with the 3 or 4 hundred pounds of junk I have in my shed, this should weight it down ok. May 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Shed I have to say I am very impressed with my new shed. It was very easy to put together by myself, the instructions were clear and thorough. I only needed my husbands help with the roof installation. After reading several reviews I am definitely glad I went with this shed and this brand! April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by it works easy to install, i tested it for the rain and is good, i wonder if the 10 years warranty is true. i got this for $800, now is $1000, for summer storage week discount woop woop. happy custumer over here June 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great shed, easy to put up. The shed fit perfectly on my concrete slab. With help from another person it took maybe 2-3 hours to install the shed. The instructions were helpful. It rained the next day after we put it up and had no leaks. March 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to build! I put this entire shed together by myself. I only had to have assistance when installing the screws into the roof on the back side only. It was simple to build and the instructions were thorough and easy to follow. Although this shed comes with a floor, it is not sturdy enough to construct without building a foundation, which I did out of treated lumber. I take exception to the instructions where it gave me the external floor measurements that I used to fabricate my foundation. The measurements they give are larger than needed. Later in the instructions, they provide you with the measurements of the floor and those are the measurements that I should have used. As is, I have extra foundation around the entire perimeter that is unnecessary. Also, I shopped around on the price. Several places sell this model and I got Home Depot to match the lowest price. I had them ship it to my nearest store and picked it up. I didn't find anyone that stocked it, but delivery was relatively quick. It looks like it is of sound construction and I am pleased with the results. Of course, only time will tell. September 19, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Global Capitalism at it's best. Pros: The shed went together easily , taking two people about two hours. The instructions were easy to follow and straight forward. I would recommend the shed, but with reservations. I got what I expected, and it will fully meet our needs. Cons: Whoever designed this shed did not think about water management at all. We built a wooden platform for it but the amount of water that was getting through to pool under the floor was unacceptable, so we took the shed apart to waterproof the subfloor and now we are putting it back up. This would not have been a problem if it were built on a slab or pea gravel, but if you are putting it on a wooden base it is good to be aware of. I do think it will keep stuff that is stored in it dry. The main design flaw is with the floor assembly having holes that allow water to creep under the floor itself from the floor/wall joints and at the door. The measurements are not standardized to normal building materials, so we had to jerry rig the platform a bit to stretch our plywood. Easily done, but silly that it was necessary. Also, the book gave measurements that were off by about an inch in the width, so our platform is slightly too wide. December 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product for the money. My wife assembled the shed in about 3-4 hours. The instructions were good but some parts of it were not too clear, then again it could have been us. October 27, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It'll do. It's OK. Not as good as I expected but it'll work. The door latch is really hokey and will break off in time if you're not careful. One good pull and locked or not anyone could get it open. I added a hasp with padlock to the door. I built a solid base consisting of 2x6 floor joists on 16" centers and floored with 5/4 decking. It's very solid and very level but the shed itself it still racked so to engage the door latch I have to lift up on one door to get it to align. Also, the package was damaged in shipping which left one of the wall panels cracked at the bottom with a hole. I'm not taking points off for this because I haven't contacted Home Depot about it yet. All in all it's not bad and I'm only using it for a shed at my seasonal campsite so it's fine. I wouldn't buy one for heavy use at home though. Wood is much stronger. June 2, 2015
