Has anyone had problems with aligning the grooves, on the front wall pieces, into the metal corner bracket?

Hi,

My husband and i are assembling this shed and we cannot get the corner metal-brackets to align with the floor piece, on the front panels. It's as if the side pieces are too long, since the corner bracket, is being pushed too far forward, once the sides are on? (Which is preventing the "vertical grooves", on the front pieces, to misalign. And, unfortunately, if we cannot get them to align, then the door opening will be too narrow.)

We have spent over two hours, trying to figure out if we've made a mistake, but it doesn't seem to be the case. And, if we are installing it correctly, then there's a terrible mistake on the manufacturing of this product, and we will have to do a 1/4" miter cut, on each side panel, to shorten them, to get the front piece grooves to match.

So, PLEASE let us know if you have any suggestions and/or if you also, have run into this same problem.

Thank you.

Answer:
The problem has to do with the corner spacing of the boards. The directions indicate you must leave a space at each corner. It does not say that these spaces "must" be absolutely even. The bigger problem is when you get to the roof and it does not fit properly into the grooves. The company should supply a t
"throw away" corner spacer for the 1st level. Then problem solved.

So, i call our local HD and not only ARE they still carrying the product, they have inventory on their shelves. (We were told a week prior, that they didn't have any inventory).
Anyway...so i call and ask if we can replace broken pieces, (that we still haven't received from Keter after 5 weeks), and they said yes. So, we got the top of the door jamb replaced. (the lintel). THEN, as we are assembling the product, we realize that the floor panels are too small? And this makes the side panels, too long. SO...we replaced this from our local HD, too.
THEN... we're installing one of the roof pieces...and we see that it has a crack in it, too. (didn't see this the first time around). SO...off to HD again, (last night), to replace this piece, too.
LASTLY...we are completely finished with the assembly, as of an hour ago, and my husband just told me that the FLOOR HAS CRACKED IN 2 PLACES, FROM THE LADDER THAT WE WERE USING INSIDE THE SHED, NECESSARY TO ASSEMBLE IT.
This has been a 6 week "journey" of broken pieces, waiting for replacement pieces, cannibalizing pieces from our local HD, and now we have a cracked floor, in 2 places.
NEEDLESS TO SAY...WE WOULD "NOT" RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT OR THIS MANUFACTURER. Read Less

Dear Keter Team and Doresoom,
Thank you for your "answers". I am replying this way, because can't seem to figure out, how to reply to you individually, and directly.
Keter Team: We spent nearly 45 minutes with your "Customer Service" Rep, yesterday, describing our issue and there wasn't a mention that the brackets may be incorrect. Is this what was implied, by your response? (To be clear, are you referring to all 4 "corner brackets", since this is where our problem exists.) If so, we are still waiting for another replacement piece from your co, and it's been over 6 weeks, and we still don't have it. Your CS Rep, suggested sending us new sides, but we are very concerned that this will not address the issue AND, these constant delays are really causing problems for us. (Do your supplies come from Israel?)
"Doresoom" - thank you for your reply also. However, in the directions, it is indicating that the "sides", are all of the same size. (Even though it's suppose to be a 7' x 7.5' shed. We assumed the extra 5" was taken into consideration on the small floor apron). BUT...crazier things have happened, so we had the same logic that you did, and re-measured the sides, to see if there was a length difference. (Despite what the instruction manual stated). So far, we have not found one, but we are desperate to get this built. So, I guess we'll go ahead and measure them all and hope that we find the solution.
Thank you again.

I doubt the kit is cut wrong. I didn't have any issues with misalignment assembling mine.
Are you sure you have the side pieces installed on the sides, and the front/back pieces installed on the back? They're close to the same width, but just an inch or two off. They'd be easy to get mixed up.
Without pictures and measurements, I think this is going to be hard to diagnose over the internet. Have you Read More

Answer:
You should never leave a space heater running unattended. The floor is plastic, and could be adversely affected by a space heater over time in the area directly in front of the space heater. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you're going to use it only while you are in the shed. Something that I use in my garage, and friends use in their boats is a Davis Instruments Air Dryer to keep the humidity down.

My opinion is no to a space heater. I believe the ventilation is probably ok but it's only 7x7 so not much room to dissipate the heat and fumes. I would never leave a heater unattended either.

If you really want to paint it, since it is a plastic-wood composite, it may be advisable to use a PRIMER FIRST, (for plastic), before applying your desired base color. I have found the folks in Home Depot's paint department, to be very helpful, in hooking me up with the right products, for projects, like this.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the price Easy to put together; I had help for the hard part but did quite a bit myself. Took about 6 hours of not too hard labor - it looks really good - the doors seem a tad flimsy but I've reinforced them slightly. This will be a chicken coop inside of a fairly secure run - I think it will do the job! July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid and a good value I'm a middle-aged woman who was looking for a sturdy, easy-to-clean house for my new chickens. I constructed the majority of this myself in one day, with a little assistance at the beginning and end. We chose to use a concrete slab, and our own anchors due to high winds in our area. From there, I was able to get pretty far on my own, until some of the roof and finished steps which require counter-pressure from a partner. None of the materials is heavy. I swear for the first several steps, I was afraid I'd made an awful error in judgment; however, the flimsy-feeling initial steps made way for a final structure that was sturdy and well-braced. The second night, the construction was tested with a horrible thunderstorm including 50-mph gusts. There was a little leaking through the vents and at the roofline due to the sideways rain, but otherwise my chickens came through just fine, and no visible damage. We were able to cut a small chicken door/ramp in the side with no problem. Screws go in through specific grooves, which can be limiting; however, if you do not intend to put a million shelves in the thing, you should be fine. Altogether I recommend this building as a solid, good value, and easy to construct and use. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid shed Hard to fit into pickup. It will rest on wheel well(s) and has to be pushed in as it can't be picked up from the end by the forklift. I brought a dolly to help roll the end in. I built this on 12, 24x30x2" sidewalk blocks that were placed on a bed of gravel framed by treated 2x6. The instructions rely on pictures and easy enough to follow. There were a couple head-scratching moments though. SET SCREWDRIVER TO #2 Clutch. EASY TO STRIP SCREWS. Some sections with longer screws can use #4 or #6 Floor didn't fit together quite right, one piece was a bit convex, but it worked out I built it myself and managed to do all of it except the peaks on the gable ends which required opposing force type assistance to get the screws to engage. I managed to break one piece of the wall. It fell off it's placing in a wind gust just as I was picking up the screwdriver. A little white glue and some clear gorilla tape held it together as I continued to build up the walls. Can't even tell anymore. Once finished it's a very solid shed that will accept screws in the walls (locations described in manual) that hold significant weight. I also used a hammer driver and those blue cement screws 1 3/4" to attach it to the sidewalk blocks in the eight spots on the floor. See manual. P.S. It's heavy and the individual boxes inside the main box are heavy. June 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nicely made Wood and Plastic Shed We ordered this sight unseen from Home Depot website and it was shipped directly to our home address ready to assemble. Thankfully we did order it sent as the total weight was 600 lbs (if I recall). The shed comes boxed in 3 boxes and all parts were there. It takes a little over 2 hrs to construct and we had no problems - no missing parts and directions are easy to follow. The only reason I am giving it a "good quality" versus excellent I feel the doors could have been more "weighty" but believe we can reinforce them to our liking. The shed fits in nicely in our small back yard and is able to store everything we want it to. I've even constructed a shelf so I can "double stack" the snowblower above the lawnmower plus added enough to give myself a small work bench. Overall we are quite pleased we purchased it and Home Depot should consider having one of these in their stores so other customers can see the finished product. We've already had 2 different neighbors look at it and they are impressed by its looks and size. May 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by shed good quality. Took two people to put together, but not hard. Nice looking shed and looks like picture. August 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great shed I was looking for a nice shed. Both in looks and quality. The Keter Fusion more then met my expectations. It's quality in materials and workmanship far succeed the other sheds on the market. Made primarily from composite materials simular to decking rather then the flimsy corogated plastic found in the common sheds. Putting it together took about 4 hours with 2 people. It is sturdy, looks great, should last for years to come. It costs 200 to 300 more then the common sheds but as most things in life you get what you pay for. Well the money I get compliments all the time on its looks July 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best shed I've assembled This shed is heavy! Very heavy, but that weight ends results in a shed that feels much more sturdy than others. It went together fairly quickly. It took my friend and I just over 4 hours to put it together start to finish. The doors fit squarely and have a much more robust latch than others too. Overall I'm very happy with it and feel it's worth the extra money and will certainly hold up to extreme conditions better than other plastic sheds. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good looking sturdy shed. I have a small yard space and this shed fit perfectly. I bought this site unseen and color shown online matched exactly the color when assembled.. It very closely matched the newly installed trex deck. I had someone assemble the shed for me, his comments were that it went together easily and it was a "good purchase". He has put together a number of different sheds and said this was a "quality" shed that would last a long time. Only had it a few days but overall very happy with it. July 13, 2016
