We installed this in June and it went off this morning for no apparent reason. It was in the living room at 66 degrees, no exposure to steam or heat, windows were closed. The hush button didn't work so we had to break the seal. Is there a warranty or money back guarantee for this?

Hello Concerned. first, what we would recommend is to take the alarm down. Take a hose attachment of a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer on cold and run it around the back edges of the alarms to blow out any dust or pollen. Press the test button until you hear 3 beeps and then let
go. Let the alarm sit running on battery on table for a couple of hours. If the alarm does not chirp or
alarm, you should be able to put it back up. Second, there are 3 usual suspects for this kind of problem: Dust and pollen, spiders and insects, and heat and humidity. Dust and pollen: What we would recommend for dust and pollen is to vacuum out your alarms. By that, I mean to take the hose attachment of a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer on cold and run it around the back edges of the alarm. Dust can get into the INSIDE of the alarm and get on the sensor. Vacuuming it out should clear this problem out and you will want to do this to all of your alarms about once a year. Heat and humidity: This alarm is made to be resistant to steam and heat and humidity. However, enough steam and humidity can still set off the alarm. Humidity over %85 and heat near the ceiling
around 95-100 degrees can set off the alarms.
Spiders and insects- there is not much you can do about this problem except for keeping the alarm out of areas prone to spiders and insects, such as attics, garages, and crawl spaces. Otherwise, the same openings that allow smoke to come in will allow spiders and insects to get into the alarm, and if they get into the alarm, they will set it off. Also: 2. LOCATIONS TO AVOID • In the garage. Products of combustion are present when you start your automobile. • Less than 4” (10cm) from the peak of an “A” frame type ceiling. • In an area where the temperature may fall below 40ºF or rise above 100ºF, such as garages and unfinished attics. • In dusty areas. Dust particles may cause nuisance alarm or failure to alarm. • In very humid areas. Moisture or steam can cause nuisance alarms. • In insect-infested areas. • Smoke alarms should not be installed within 3 ft (.9m) of the following: the door to a kitchen, the door to a bathroom containing a tub or shower, forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. • Kitchens. Normal cooking may cause nuisance alarms. If a kitchen alarm is desired, it should have an alarm silence feature or be a photoelectric type. • Near fluorescent lights. Electronic “noise” may cause nuisance alarms. • Smoke alarms are not to be used with detector guards unless the combination (alarm and guard) has been evaluated and found suitable for that purpose. I see lots of reviews with the battery dying early. Is there an expiration date on the package somewhere, that I can check, before I even install?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Multiple 10 year Kidde alarms multiple false alarms and complete product failure Have bought several from Home Depot. Returned almost all for breaking within the first year. Now trying to figure out how to get yet another one fixed after another failure. Would never buy Kidde again. Too unreliable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy Just disabled our second one built in April 2015. The first went off when our son was 9 months old in his room causing me to freak out since he was asleep in, there for the night. No smoke,no fire,no alarm saying the battery was dying, and couldn't be shut off. These units were purchased and installed at the same time,I'm happy to see them gone

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy! I bought two. I had one installed in the garage and the other one in the kitchen. A month later, at 3A.M, the one in the garage started with the awful noise. I got the ladder and, afraid, climbed on it and unscrewed the Kidde; it kept making noise and I took it to my bedroom to try to continue my sleep but the noise continued. I called Kidde and I was told a thunder may have triggered it. A month later the one in the kitchen started with the noise. Again, I had to climb the ladder, and unscrew it. This time Kidde blamed it on humidity. I asked for a refund-they do not give refunds. I called Home Depot and told them what I went through and the manager or Assistant Manager told me to take both to the store and gave me his name. I did and I got the refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bought just one bought just one not a 3 pack maybe I should have as the one I bought worked for about two days then started beeping? Checked and in reading the back it said that the battery was at the end of its life! Only 9 Years and 360 days short. Will see if I can return it and try another one, this onne may have just been a bad one? Then I can write a better review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk! I bought three of these when I bought my house in Nov 2014. The one in the basement had a false alarm a couple times. A few days ago the one in the hallway right outside my master bedroom activated at 3:00 AM! Scared the living daylights out of my cat and I! After searching the entire house doing a lap around the outside of the house determined it was another false alarm! I'm done with these and going to the 2nd generation Nest which seems to have all its bugs worked out. For areas of the house where Nest is not cost justifiable I am going with the old school First Alerts with replaceable batteries. According to many reviews I've read the 10 year sealed ones report more false alarms then the old style ones along with the 2nd gen Nest.

Bought these at the end of May of 2016 and just today one of them started malfunctioning. The CO alarm was sounding for over an hour and we had to disable it permanently. We tested the other two alarms and both are in working order. We took the one with the alarm going off outside and it never quit so we disabled it. Kidde claims that it is a worry free 10 year battery but after under 6 months we already have to replace one. I have emailed kidde to let them know about our problem.
