Answer:
Hello Sharon. There is no date of manufacturing on the outside of the package. However, the unit is warrantied for 10 years from date of purchase if you have the receipt or date of manufacturing as a backup. If there is an issue with the alarm, call us at Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788 with the alarm in hand and we will be happy to help you with the alarm and the warranty.

Hello Concerned. first, what we would recommend is to take the alarm down. Take a hose attachment of a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer on cold and run it around the back edges of the alarms to blow out any dust or pollen. Press the test button until you hear 3 beeps and then let
go. Let the alarm sit running on battery on table for a couple of hours. If the alarm does not chirp or
alarm, you should be able to put it back up. Second, there are 3 usual suspects for this kind of problem: Dust and pollen, spiders and insects, and heat and humidity. Dust and pollen: What we would recommend for dust and pollen is to vacuum out your alarms. By that, I mean to take the hose attachment of a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer on cold and run it around the back edges of the alarm. Dust can get into the INSIDE of the alarm and get on the sensor. Vacuuming it out should clear this problem out and you will want to do this to all of your alarms about once a year. Heat and humidity: This alarm is made to be resistant to steam and heat and humidity. However, enough steam and humidity can still set off the alarm. Humidity over %85 and heat near the ceiling
around 95-100 degrees can set off the alarms.
Spiders and insects- there is not much you can do about this problem except for keeping the alarm out of areas prone to spiders and insects, such as attics, garages, and crawl spaces. Otherwise, the same openings that allow smoke to come in will allow spiders and insects to get into the alarm, and if they get into the alarm, they will set it off. Also: 2. LOCATIONS TO AVOID • In the garage. Products of combustion are present when you start your automobile. • Less than 4” (10cm) from the peak of an “A” frame type ceiling. • In an area where the temperature may fall below 40ºF or rise above 100ºF, such as garages and unfinished attics. • In dusty areas. Dust particles may cause nuisance alarm or failure to alarm. • In very humid areas. Moisture or steam can cause nuisance alarms. • In insect-infested areas. • Smoke alarms should not be installed within 3 ft (.9m) of the following: the door to a kitchen, the door to a bathroom containing a tub or shower, forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. • Kitchens. Normal cooking may cause nuisance alarms. If a kitchen alarm is desired, it should have an alarm silence feature or be a photoelectric type. • Near fluorescent lights. Electronic “noise” may cause nuisance alarms. • Smoke alarms are not to be used with detector guards unless the combination (alarm and guard) has been evaluated and found suitable for that purpose. Rated 1 out of 5 by from bought just one bought just one not a 3 pack maybe I should have as the one I bought worked for about two days then started beeping? Checked and in reading the back it said that the battery was at the end of its life! Only 9 Years and 360 days short. Will see if I can return it and try another one, this onne may have just been a bad one? Then I can write a better review.

Bought these at the end of May of 2016 and just today one of them started malfunctioning. The CO alarm was sounding for over an hour and we had to disable it permanently. We tested the other two alarms and both are in working order. We took the one with the alarm going off outside and it never quit so we disabled it. Kidde claims that it is a worry free 10 year battery but after under 6 months we already have to replace one. I have emailed kidde to let them know about our problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from "10 year battery" only lasted one month Very disappointed in this smoke alarm. It was installed and then 3 weeks later the alarm started to beep once every minute which signifies a dying battery. You cant change the batteries either. They are sealed in. Thank goodness I found my receipt because this one is going back to the store!

It decided to go off and would not stop. There was no smoke, no steam, no cooking, NO reason for it to go off. It even went off in a plastic bag after I took it down. Thinking I just had a bad one, I went to Home Depot and got another. It didn't even go 24 hours without doing the exact same thing. There is nothing weird about my house and, once again, no smoke, no steam, no cooking, no reason for it to go off. It took it back and got a refund. I bought a Code One smoke alarm, with a 10 yr. battery and it has been working fine. I was a little worried when I saw they were made by Kidde, but so far so good. And the Code One alarm was about $10 less in cost.

I bought this product to replace a unit that started beeping because it was 'too old'. This was the closest model to what I was replacing, so I hoped that it would use the same type mounting bracket. Of course that didn't happen. The new bracket is about an inch and a half in diameter, so it won't mount on my popcorn covered ceiling. I had to make a spacer to move the bracket far enough from the ceiling for the alarm to attach. What could have been a couple of minute replacement became an hour ordeal. Since these units now are only good for ten years, and can't be repaired, it would be nice if the manufactures would at least keep the mounting system the same to simplify reinstallation. I don't know why they set me up with a 3-Pack since I only bought one alarm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kidde Smoke Alarm - 10 Year Battery Installed easily - although detector could not use existing bracket so we did have to completely remove old detector's mount first. We were glad to see there was a 'warning' signal for replacing battery at it's end of life that you could turn off for a period of a week or so to give you time to buy replacement. Of course, we hope never to find out how good it is at actually detecting smoke.

Just make sure you do not use gorilla strength when using the drywall screw. We had no issue, but other reviews mentioned how they broke during the install. Pre drill as recommended and you should have no problems. Can't say how well they work, but that's a good thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right smoke/co alarm I needed 3 new state of the art smoke and co alarms for my home to upgrade my protection. The stores all seemed to have either singles or packs of two. This three pack was at a good price online thru Home Depot with free shipping. Perfect! They arrived 2 days later!
