Some WiFi enabled alarms have the ability to announce the name of the room or space in which it is located. Does this alarm have this capability?

If the power goes out, do the alarms go off? I have the wink lights in my home. If there's a power outage they turn on.

Asked by: mmp800
They are battery operated, they are not tied into your electrical system. they will go of if there is smoke or carbon monoxide

Just make sure the keypads on every unit have the same code. The keypad is located in the battery compartment and visible when the batteries are removed. We have 9 units that are synced.

Con: Only lasted 2 months before giving off a permanent carbon monoxide alert. I had to go to the 24hr store at 2am and buy another carbon monoxide alarm to make sure my family was not in danger. Pros: Easy to pair with Wink. Good price for a combination detector with Wink capabilities. Home depot replaced it without a receipt. Hopefully the replacement one last longer.

These were replacements for the exact same model, mainly because of the ceiling attachment mechanism. The old ones were about 10 years old so it was time for new. They are pricey but are both smoke and CO together. We have them in all bedrooms ( as recommended by the FD) as well as a hall way and the first floor. The talk to each other, so if a fire starts on the first floor in the night, we will be alerted on the second floor and vice versa. We chose these originally because of their completeness and Kidde reputation. We chose them the second time for many of the same reasons, plus ease of reinstall.

Cons: no sensitivity adjustment. It is pretty sensitive, the slightest bit of smoke coming from a frying pan set it off. As far as linking to a hub, I have heard it isn't possible to differentiate between which alarm is going off. This probably isn't a huge deal since the last thing you're going to do during a fire is check to see which alarm is originating the alert from your smart phone. Still, it would be nice in terms of a "which alarm is low on batteries". Setup is easy: choose a code, flip the pin switches accordingly, install batteries, you're done linking the devices. Price is fantastic. For the same price as a Nest, you have three vs one.

A single screw holds the center bracket onto which the smoke alarm mounts. It takes just minutes to install each one. I tested them and found the alarms to be very loud, though the voice following the alarm was not as loud. I have one on each level of my house and they all connected to each other effortlessly. Although they have only been installed 2 days ago, I am confident they will be as good as the kidde units they replaced (which reached the end of life after 10 years of reliable service).

I purchased this detector to work with my Wink home automation system and it is working great. I opened my Wink app. and scanned the Kidde barcode. Once I set the dip switches on the detector, per the Wink app. and installed the three AA batteries, included, it was ready to go. My Wink is a first generation model and I had no problems adding this product. The detector is mounted with one screw and took about five minutes. I am very happy with this product.

Our 25 year old smoke detectors finally died, (yes, I know I should have replaced them years ago). I liked the idea of having smoke detectors that would all go off at once if I wanted them to, so I bought this 3 pack. I was amazed at how easy it was to set the 3 smoke detectors to the same "pin" settings. My suggestion would be to open up all the smoke detectors and set the pins BEFORE putting the batteries in. The pins are behind the battery compartment so I had to remove them to set the "pins". Also, as a 57 year old female with less than optimal eyesight and not so nimble fingers, I used an extra light and a little magnifying glass to be certain I had all the pins set correctly. A small little tool, like a pen or eyeglass screwdriver would help with the pin setting too. After you set the pins to the same positions in all the smoke detectors, put the batteries in. Next, prepare yourself for some fun as you test the detectors to be certain they are properly synced. (You may want ear plugs for this.) So that I would know all 3 detectors were synced before I put them up, I placed one on my kitchen counter, one on the coffee table in the living room and the third on my dining room table. I then pressed the button on the first detector and the Magic began. The detector actually spoke and alarmed, it was cool. All 3 alarms sounded. But, since I can be a little worry wart, I proceeded to test the second detector, then the third. I know, it was a little overkill, but I wanted to be sure they all were synced. My husband installed the 3 smoke detectors and claimed "they were easier to install than the first ones". He is honest about these things, so I trust that installation was a breeze. I was impressed when I read the directions for installation because it said how to make sure they all face the same direction by aligning arrows. When I cook I tend to set off smoke detectors, don't judge me I just don't have cooking talent. Fortunately, my husband is retired and does most of the cooking. BUT, for those instances I do cook and make smoke, these detectors have a little pause or delay button that prevents them from sounding for I think 8 minutes, enough time to clear my smoke. I'm not positive with the delay time, but I am pretty sure it is 8 minutes. My husband and I both love these new smoke detectors. They look nice, have a voice and alarm to wake very sound sleepers, and work; plus they were reasonably priced! Who could ask for anything more?

Reason for 1 star rating and not recommending product is due to the terrible Z-wave "smart" functions. 1- All detectors show up as one. So you have no clue which detector activated the alert, you have no clue which detector is showing low battery. 2- It does not send an alert to your mobile devices. So adding this to your Wink system is a waste.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked as expected, easy set up to operate wirelessly... may even be called fun! Very easy to set up as individual alarms -- like pull out of the package (takes a sharp knife!) The wireless set up was easy too -- just put on your glasses and make the DIP switches all have the same number and you are set and the fun begins. Of course you must in stall the 3 AA batteries also. Push the test button on one and it give audible and shrill beep we all know and hate, but a voice comes on and says "FIRE" and then it beeps and speaks again in testing the carbon monoxide. I mounted mine upstairs and down. At some point when wife upstairs, I pushed the test button down stairs and it went thru the "test cycle" and she got to hear it work upstairs as the wireless system alerts all areas when either alarm activates. Do we lack real fun in our life if this was FUN? The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was because I foresee having to change batteries more often than with more typical 9V batteries found in other fire alarms. Time will tell...
