Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Colt Lighting fixture for bathroom
The product itself was excellent....the instructions, not so much. We spent an inordinate amount of time trying to position the post pegs to attach the light fixture. I ended up paying almost $300 to have an electrician resolve the problem which is a very simple solution. We reread your instructions and they are abysmal.

We bought a 3 level home on a lake in October 2015. Since our master bedroom is on the THIRD level, I was concerned about a "fire escape." My husband and I are "fluffy" people, so we needed a heavy duty ladder--this one is AWESOME! It will hold up to 1000 lbs and is for a one time use.
Home Depot personnel were AWESOME at helping me find just what I was looking for!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rosif3r works great, but i hope i never have to use it for its intended purpose.
I will say up front that while i eventually intend to have this product be available for use for its intended purpose (emergency exit in case of a fire) that is *not* why I bought it. I bought it specifically so that I would have a safe way to climb in and out of an ever-deepening hole in my attic floor, where a chimney is steadily shrinking brick by brick. And in that respect it has performed admirably. I obviously had to secure it other than it was meant to (it's meant to hook over a window sill - I had to bolt it to attic rafter joists), but even though it's coming over an open space rather than against the side of a house it's perfectly fine climbing up and down on.
I would also say that i hope neither I, nor anyone else who buys it, ever has to use it in case of a fire. Not because there's anything wrong with the ladder, but because it means the house would be on fire...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by John Great Product, Horrible "store to home" shipping
Ordered the ladder from a store that didn't have it in stock, It arrived via UPS to my doorstep in a wad of busted, tuct taped cardboard. Not blaming UPS but the store that shipped it. It was a light weight cardboard that the sending store simply slapped a UPS sticker on and shipped it out. It would be the equivalent of dropping a box of cereal in the mail with postage on it.
HOWEVER! The ladder arrived functional, cosmetically damaged but its a fire ladder.
Only con I see is that I wished to test or trial run the ladder but its stamped on the front "SINGLE USE ONLY". I did practice setting it in the window and it was done with ease.
If you don't need the three story, DONT GET IT. It adds a little more weight to the ladder which may make it difficult for smaller people.
Overall happy with the product.

Why would you make a one time use only on and fire escape ladder. Every program you read or see, tells you to have your family practice your fire escape plan in your house. With this I practice, now I have to buy another one. Come on now!

I purchased this fire escape ladder for my daughter and her family. The live in an apartment on 2nd floor. Small patio overlooking lawn area. Have always thought about..what if there is a fire. So thankfully this ladder has not been used and hopefully never will. But we have some peace of mind knowing this is ready. I have not seen ladder but she was pleased with it, seemed decent quality. Her young sons right away were taking it out of packaging and checking it out.

The ladders will be useful in the event of a fire, but they are for a ONE TIME USE ONLY (read fine print on box).
Therefore it is not very practical if you have a family and want to have a drill and demonstrate how to use it in the event of an emergency.
