What type of extinguisher should I keep in my oil fired boiler area

What type of extinguisher should I keep in my oil fired boiler area
Asked by: Jayare
Hello Jayare. Due to volumes of flammable liquids in the garage, you should install a higher rated unit such as the 3-A:40B-C Garage/Workshop unit FX340GW. We would recommend a large ABC extinguisher. We are Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788. Thank you for your interest.

What makes this better fir a car than the similar size, less expensive ABC model?

I read the specs and it seems to have less usefullness than the 2 lb powder ABC model so Im just wondering why this is better for a car.
Asked by: James
I would still prefer an ABC rated extinguisher. The BC version is assuming the fire is electrical or oil based. Fires happen inside vehicles also for a number of reasons. It's hard to find one this same size thought.

Can this extinguisher be kept in the car?

It gets up to 115 degrees "outside" here in Vegas in the Summer.
Asked by: Randy
Yes. I have it mounted horizontally in my jeep. The position does not matter, but people tend to ask.

The included holder seems strong enough to mount in my Jeep, but I would have preferred the metal strap. No problems though. Hopefully I never need to use it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a little like insurance. You can't rate it until you need it and use it. The extinguisher ... It's a little like insurance. You can't rate it until you need it and use it. The extinguisher is a nice size and should fit in one of the molded side pockets in the back of our SUV. I've never had to use a fire extinguisher on my own vehicle, but twice, when I was a truck driver, I used the one I carried to help out other motorists.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from compact Nice extinguisher for the money. Suppose to last 6 years. Will work well in my garage. Not refillable but I wouldn't know where to get it filled anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good standby put it in my rig as a standby - haven't had to use it but feel better having it there

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not easy to mount The one thing that I would love to see is a fire extinguisher for a car that actually fits in a car without twenty changes to both the car and the mounting bracket
