This alarm is easy to install, easy to test, and easy to use. Hopefully we will never need to use a fire alarm, but we're glad to know it is there.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TiredHomeOwner Like nuisance alarms at 2AM? Buy this one!
Purchased about 1 yr ago wanting the best for my family. NOT with this product..... Just a whisp of smoke from your cooking coil?,BAM alarm goes off. A LITTLE bit of unforeseen steam out of your bathroom OR just regular cooking on your stove, AGAIN there goes the alarm. This doesn't include the MANY times of false alarms going off at all hrs of the night!!
Maintenance was continually done on these to try to prevent false alarms (new batteries every 6 months, blowing out the unit with canned air every other month, just in case of dust collection), to no avail.
THEN the last straw, false alarm at 2AM and could NOT get the unit to hush. Ended up pulling it. Needless to say, after a year, I'm done this this brand. Am buying the least expensive with NO photoelectric eye in it!!

This smoke alarm is suppose to have a 10 year life span. I bought 4 at the same time with 3 manufactured 4/2007 and 1 in 4/2008. It's 4/2015 now and none of them work anymore. Changed batteries but all are dead and I don't know how long they've been dead. I admit I don't check them regularly as you are suppose to but my guess is they died within the last 6 months when I changed the batteries during the end of daylight savings time. I'm replacing with dual sensor First Alerts.

What's to say about a smoke detector. It sits on the ceiling, flashes to let you know it's alive and hopefully will shriek loudly, should we have a fire. If it fails to do so, then I'll have something to say. It would be nice if it blinked a little more frequently to let you know it's working. Looking up, for a senior, can be painful, especially for a full minute.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DzrtRat A inexpensive remedy
This alarm was an easy install. Placed it in our common room with cathedral ceilings. Searched forever to find a photo and ion fire alarm. Wasn't until after I ordered this that I discovered it was a BATTERY operated NOT WIRE IN.
Otherwise, the inexpensive price is safe assurance that it will go off for either detection. One thing I don't like about it, the alarm has to be removed from the fixture for the battery to be replaced. Not an easy task with our ceilings. Otherwise a good product, quick simple install, and easy testing.
