Answer:
The alarm that directly replaces the 1276 is the i12060A, Model # 21006376, Internet # 202029420 . However, all current Kidde hardwired alarms are compatible with all other Kidde hardwired alarms, and all Kidde hardwired alarms use the same wiring harness. However, all current Kidde hardwired alarms are compatible with all other Kidde hardwired alarms, and all Kidde hardwired alarms use the same wiring harness. If you decide to replace your 1276 with an alarm of a different model than the I12060a, the only thing you would have to change is the plastic mounting bracket. The I12060A has the same mounting bracket as the 1276. The new alarms do come with a wiring harness that is slightly different than the wiring harness of the much older models from before 2004 and is made to be easier to take out of the back of the alarms, but the old wiring harnesses will work with the new alarms except for the KN-COSM-IBA, the I12010S, and the I12010SCO. The wiring harnesses can get brittle as they age and the plastic or the wires can break. Best practice is to change out the wiring harnesses every 10 years to avoid that from happening. Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Keyholes & Level markings off @ 10-15 degress. When you read the instructions, you're told to align 2 lines parallel to the floor so the units mount in the proper orientation. I was VERY upset, after I mounted the mounting plate, that the unit then was off level by about 10 -15 degrees. I then had to remount the mounting plate to get the unit level & correctly oriented. Having learned from the first unit I installed, I made an adjusted template to mount the second one. A simple 10 minute job turned into an hour of frustration. May 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Two for the price of one These are very easy to install and the feature of having the batter on the outside is great. No removing the unit to replace the battery. Plus by ordering via internet and picking up at the store, they have this special package where you get two for what the price of one is in the store. April 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good product for the price. Easy installation. The battery compartment is accessible with out having to jump through hoops. Very nice design. Has both a "hush" button as well as a "test" button. Would highly recommend. January 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good smoke alarm for price Can't really beat getting 2 reliable smoke alarms for $18 March 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth it! Very easy to install, and a great value for the dollar. Couldn't ask for more. October 12, 2012
