Rated 5 out of 5Â by DIYinUT Very Easy to Install
I installed 2 of these alarms in my home. 1 in each of my kids bedrooms.
before you start you need to pair any alarms before you install them. This is just so if 1 alarm goes off, they all go off.
you just set the code pad found in the battery compartment and then they are set and ready to use. these also have voice notifications as well.
to install you just need to insert a single drywall screw for the mount and just twist the alarm into place. quick and easy. these have been in place for over a month and I have not had to replace the batteries. requires 3 AA batteries which are included.

Among all other Kidde's fire alarms, this one has the best and easiest installation mechanism. A major plus of this alarm is that it detects both fire and carbon mono oxide, Second plus is that it has a voice alarm along with beeps that clearly identifies the threat. The third and most important plus is that all these alarms are interconnected wireless . It creates such a ruckus that everyone will be up and running out in seconds. I am very happy and feel a lot safer with these alarms. Although would have preferred 9 volts batteries as they last longer instead of 3 AA batteries which come included with the alarms. It can also be used with Wink Connected Home Hub.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Tom3 Great peace of mind. Easy to set up!
Really like these. Took no time at all to set up. If you have a multi story home these give you peace of mind. I have a hard time waking up and I've always been concerned about what would happen if there was a fire or excess CO in the basement while I was sleeping on the 2nd floor. Especially since I tend to close the door to the basement as well as my basement door.
Each unit can detect smoke or carbon monoxide. If there's a fire you'll have both so the voice prompt will only say "Fire". Kidde has a long history in this field. I'm not the type of guy that cares who's name is on my jeans but when it comes to things that can save my life, brands matter to me.
Now I have one of these in the 2nd floor hallway outside the bedrooms and one in the basement just outside the utility room. If something triggers the alarm in the basement, either smoke or carbon monoxide, the alarm in the 2nd floor hallway will also start making noise. In addition to the piercing alarm sound, a voice tells you if the alert is for fire or carbon monoxide. After installing the detectors I could tell right away that the communication was working fine after pressing the test button. From the basement I was able to faintly hear the 2nd floor alarm and vice versa. There's a slight delay in the other alarm after the first one triggers so you can hear the alarm in the distance during the pauses of the triggered alarm.
I was very impressed at how easy it was to set up. Read the instructions for proper placement then set the code using the dip switches in the battery compartment. Using a pen or pencil just come up with some random code on one of the units and then set up the same code on all the others. Don't leave the default code in case there's someone else nearby using the same Kidde wireless smoke detectors. Then just install the included 3 AA batteries in each unit and test them one by one. All the alarms should sound when you trigger one and you can have up to 12 working together.
Very easy to install too. One small plastic mounting stud gets attached to your ceiling (or wall) with a single screw that is included in the packaging, along with a plastic drywall anchor. Then just slide the detector on the post and rotate to a visually pleasant orientation. I find it easier than the standard 2 screw mounts where you try and blindly insert one screw then the other. Batteries must be installed or the detector won't mount to the wall.
It would have been nice if the voice alert could tell you which detector had tripped but for small installations it should be easy to figure out. If I am woken in the middle of the night by the fire alarm and pass the one in the 2nd floor hallway without seeing smoke I can safely assume it's in the basement. Really, you shouldn't care where the alarm is coming from. Your main concern should be getting out. I'll eventually get one to replace the CO/Smoke detector on the first floor two but my main concern was having the two most distant locations connected.
These detectors can only work with the same model of wireless Smoke and CO detectors. They won't connect with other wireless alarms from Kidde. This is only an issue if you already have other wireless detectors installed that you don't want to replace. For me it wasn't an issue.
Can connect with a Wink home automation HUB to send you alerts remotely but I don't have one to test it out.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by MrROMAN Great alarms that can sync!!
They work like advertised..... Once you sync them up they will all go off at the same time. Plus I got the wink hub for 4 $.99..... They paired up quickly and no issues so far... They don't look as good as the Nest ones but they are half the price.

I bought these because I wanted to be able to hear an alarm downstairs while sleeping upstairs (if the need ever arose). It works. I bought 4 of them and put 3 downstairs and 1 in my master bedroom just to hear. I figured in the daytime, someone would smell smoke in the upstairs areas and have time to get out safely. They connected very easily when following the simple instructions. I am quite pleased and hope to never hear them again now. I have not been able to get them to connect to the Wink appliance yet, but all that would do is tell me if there was an alarm while I was not at home. Maybe useful, but not a life saver.
