What is the measurement of the width between the screws (for mounting on the wall)...is it 2.375" ?

I had a Kidde Model # KN-COB-B P/N: 9CO5 mounted already on the wall and it recently errored and cannot be reset so, I am trying to replace with a model that I can just hang up on the wall, without having to move the screws. Thanks for helping.
Asked by: PJP422
Correction - 3 1/8" is correct. Sorry.

I only have 1 co detector to install but I am hesitant about picking a location in my 2 story stand-alone. Where is best

I am 31 female and live with 4 year old son. 3 bedrooms and bathroom on 2nd floor and living rm, dining rm, kitchen on 1st floor. I have a full unfinished basement as well. I was told to install at bottom of basement stairs but im not sure after reading the manual.
Asked by: Adk1103
Hello ADK1103, If you would be able to hear the detector if it went off, then bottom of stairs is acceptable. Thank you for choosing Kidde.

I currently have smoke detectors, home inspection requires carbon monoxide detector. Do I remove my regular one, and this one works for smoke, and carbon monoxide?
Asked by: carlos
This is only for carbon monoxide, so you would install this and not remove your smoke detectors. Smoke detectors are for fire only. Some styles of smoke detectors also include the co detector, but I have not had good luck with that type.

The installation is very straight forward and units seem to work well.

The batteries provided in the four sets of CO detectors I bought on the two occasions were all dead. I had to buy new batteries to make them work. When I complained to the counter clerk later, she said all I could do was to return them. Whew! I had already installed them high on the wall with fresh batteries and I was not going to take them down. Besides, all other sets of the same brand at the shelf probably have dead Kiddie batteries too, to my best judgment.

The molded information needed by owner (and installers) requires good eyesight and better than average lighting, both of which are often lacking in the residences of the poor whom we serve. I don't know of a manufacturer that uses a different method of signage on their product so I'll continue purchasing these. Oh, the price was right! Volunteer with Rebuilding Together

It also saves packaging so it is a green solution. They work great. Many homes with older electric sockets will not hold the weight of a plug-in unit. These lightweight battery powered units solve that problem
