will this replace FX1020 , wires without changing the mount? can I connect the 3 prong plug and just twist in place on currently wired bracket
Asked by: Steven
Hello Steven, There are no direct replacements for the FX1020. You would need to change all the FX1020 alarms at the same time which will include changing the wiring harness and mounting bracket. All of the FX2010s should be removed from the interconnect line before installing the new alarms. Thank you for your question.

How often to the batteries need to be changed?

Asked by: Mk
Batteries usually last at least a year. I test the device 6 or more times each year and always change the battery when we change the clocks in the fall.

Why does my smoke alarm keep beeping?

Asked by: Sherry
maybe out of date, some manufacturers have a specified time that these detectors are good for, so they may beep even if you change the battery

At first all was okay, but after 2 years, a few of them starting to go off without a need, and wouldn't shut off until detached and battery taken out. Replacing the battery with a brand new one did not solve the issue. To date the production date of 2013, I have replaced 4-5( can't remember which ) the new ones that replaced the first have not caused this issue. I tried to contact Kidde via E-mail, but haven't heard back yet.

FireX hardwired 120-Volt Inter-Connectable Smoke Alarm with Battery did the job just great. Easy to install all you need is a screw driver and follow the printed instructions, so far no beeps to wake us up. The only problem was climbing the ladder to change the two top smoke alarms on high ceiling. I'm getting a little shaky at my age and my wife refused to do it.

I found this product very easy to install as a replacement for an existing 3-wire residential detector. We use these on the top floor and basement of our home. The top floor is our sleeping level and the basement is where our services, furnace, water heater, etc. are located. If we only had a single-station detector in the basement, it is unlikely we would hear an alarm if we were upstairs.

Good product, and fairly simple to replace existing ionization alarms with. About the only thing that would have made it easier for replacement would be if the plugins for the wires on the back were the same as the older original hardwired ionization version of smoke detectors that were the same FireX brand.

What's the point of being hardwired if the unit is just going to chirp every year when battery is low. I bought hardwired so I wouldn't have to worry about battery chirp (or so I thought). Make sure you buy one with a ten year battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from False alarms I have five of these in my house, interconnected. They have all malfunctioned numerous times during the past few years. They all keep false alerting for no reason. They are not dirty or dusty.
