Hello Trud. This sounds like a low battery. You will need a new Duracell MN1604 or MX1604 alkaline 9 volt battery or a new Energizer 522 alkaline 9 volt battery. The battery will need to have a good use-by date of at least 3 or 4 years out, of at least 2020 or beyond. If this doesn't fix the issue, please call us at Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788 between 8 am and 5 pm Eastern Standard Time, Read More

Hello Mo. If it is a chirp every 15 seconds, then this is a low battery. You will want to unplug the alarm and replace the battery with a new Duracell alkaline battery model MN1604 or MX1604 or the Energizer alkaline battery model 522. Make sure the new battery has a good use-by date of at least 3 or 4 years out, at least 2019 or beyond. If it is a chirp every 30 seconds, then this is either a sensor Read More

If it is a chirp every 30 seconds, then this is either a sensor error or that the alarm has reached the end of it's life. The carbon monoxide alarms made before 2013 had a 7 year lifespan and will chirp every 30 seconds when it reaches the end of it's life. If you feel the alarm is still within warranty, please call us with the alarm and a new battery in hand at Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788. Read Less
