Hello Britman. You will need to take down all of the old alarms before putting up any new alarms. The new alarms will not work with the older FADC alarms. The KA-F adaptor will modify the older FireX wiring harness to work with the PI2010 but the adaptor will not work with the I12010SCO or the I12010S. The KA-F adaptors will work with the KN-COPE-IC and the I5000. We are Kidde Product Support at Read More

Hello Marmoset. In reference to your question, no. The new alarms don't work with the older alarms and they won't have the same wiring harness or plug. You will have to take down all of the old alarms before putting up any new alarms. Kidde and FireX used to be two different companies with two different technologies. The new Firex-Kidde alarms work with the old Kidde alarms but not with the older FireX Read More

Hello Coco. In reference to your question, the KA-F adaptor will work with the wiring harness for the FADC, ADC, and AD FireX alarms. It depends on the model of the FireX alarm that you have. If you look on the back of your older alarm, there will be a place where the text is broken up into two columns, near the center of the back of the alarm. CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by disappointing as in a previous review.....adapters will not work with kidde comb smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. The adapter hits the mounting plate and you are unable to turn the detector for mounting. Returned to HD. Called Kidde customer service but they weren't at all concerned. Just said they will not work with that model. June 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy enough I had not realized that both adapters were not the same, so I didn't order enough. January 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointed...product does not work as advertised When plugged into the new Kidde detectors I bought to replace the FireX models I had (5 of), they interfere with the new Kidde ceiling mounting plates. The center opening in the mounting plates is not large enough to accept the adapters. Because of this I had to remove the original FireX connectors and rewire the new Kidde connectors, a step I was trying to avoid in the first place by ordering the adapters. November 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solved my problem I'm rating the adapters five stars for being the solution to my issue. I wanted to convert my 10 year old BRK smoke detectors to new Kidde smoke detectors. Im rating the connection process 2 stars. It takes time and some finesse to say the least.Connecting the existing hardwire to the adapter can be a little tricky. Just take your time. It does work, but will require some good old patience for sure. The adapter clips into the new detector with not too much trouble. Its not a perfectly smooth/flush fit, but it works so don't contemplate too much. Don't try and push too hard or you could damage the unit. Last but not least, make sure you are using the correct adapter for the correct unit. October 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Item I replaced all my smoke detectors after 10 years. New ones did not connect to old connection. Found this item and decided to try. It worked. There are 2 differs sizes of adapters in each package, I used the larger of the two. I now have new smoke detectors that work April 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes replacing obsolete smoke detector super easy Worth small cost as I did not have to shut power to tenants home office computers which were on same circuit as the smoke detector December 23, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by adaptor works The first adapter I broke. My bad. I did not have the grip strength to press the two side-pieces that snap into the receptacle to hold the adapter. I used pliers and broke it. I learned from that and the next two I used were a "snap". They went in easily enough and everything worked. September 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome I was so pleased to find out that I did not have to hire an electrician to rewire for new smoke detectors. This adapter allowed me, myself, to replace old detectors with new ones very easily. I simply purchased smoke detectors that match up with the adapter. Very Impressed and pleased. Save a lot of $$$$ doing it on my own December 11, 2013
