Answer:
The difference is location. The hallway will pick up from other rooms as well, but if a fire starts in a bedroom, the bedroom smoke detector will pick it up first.
If you have ever seen fire move in a house, any additional seconds will count for the warning.

Answer:
These alarms are not wireless. They do not set each other off and they do not connect with each other. The hallway alarm is an alarm with an exit light on it so that you can install it near the end of a hallway. If there is so much smoke that you can't find your way out, you can follow the light. The bedroom alarm has a voice on it because people are more likely to wake up to a voice. If you want Read More

Answer:
I assume you mean "wireless smoke DETECTOR"! Not everything in the store is advertised. I bought a single unit - not a three pack from the Home Depot store in Central Islip, NY The way they get 10 years is to permanently install a lithium battery which is guaranteed to last 10 years - which is also the life of the sensing element. You then dispose of it and buy another.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 63 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Always going off We bought 4 of these and not one is still up. These lasted about 2 weeks, and then they would go off and not shut off. There was no smoke, no fire, no emergency. The detectors were malfunctioning, or not properly working. To get them to shut off, we had to literally tear them apart. We bought the cheap ones at our local Ace store...they work just fine. August 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't waste your money Bought eight of these four our new home, they last 6-12 months before they go off with no reason. Kidde will replace broken ones only to have the same thing happen again in 6 months. Only way to get them to stop is crush them, relieves some of the frustration from wasted $ August 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never again This thing lasted about 18 months and then kept going off alternating "FIRE" and CARBON MONOXIDE" . I had to turn the screw on the back which permanently disables the alarm. Garbage IMO. Never again. I too should have read the reviews. August 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Frustrated & Worried We bought 4 of these in December of 2014. We liked the idea that they were 10 year alarms. Now 18 months later we've had two go off (in the middle of the night naturally) with out a fire. The first one was four days ago and we were terrified to go back to sleep because we were convinced there must be a fire that we couldn't locate. Last night another one went off. Again thankfully no fire. There was no way to shut them off either without permanently disabling it. Now our fear is that any future alarms our children will ignore. Piece of junk. June 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by piece of junk alarm goes off randomly in the middle of the night .... no fire, no smoke, no dust (clean house) ... almost had a heart attack more than once (and I do have a heart condition) ... bought a bunch of them to pass a home inspection and going to throw them all away. July 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great Idea, Defective Execution I purchased four of these "10-year" smoke detectors and in less than a year thinking the extra cost would be recovered by the savings of 9-volt batteries needed with traditional smoke detectors. Unfortunately, two of them have gone off erroneously and because of the design, you can only turn these off once which is permanent. I have tried to contact Kiddie and that have not responded. I still like the idea of the 10-year battery smoke detector, but I will never buy Kiddie again. June 27, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I like the voice, but not the mounting base The mounting base on this is very strange. It is about the size of a USA 50 cent piece. I don't like this, and I had some issues with it on a popcorn ceiling. You have to give it a good twist to activate the unit, and it feels like I'm going to rip it right off the ceiling. (See attached photo.) OK, so they tried something different by having two different ways to mount it, one with traditional screws and anchors, and the other with a central drywall anchor screw. Neither gives me much confidence. Mounting issues aside, the unit has a pleasant voice announcing "fire" in a direct tone. This is good for someone who may have issues, such as dementia. It makes it clear what is happening. I've only had it up a few weeks. We'll see how long it lasts and I'm hoping for the best in longevity. July 6, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy this Kidde smoke alarm We bought this particular smokealarm less than a year ago. One morning, it started beeping. No smoke or fire in the house. Tried to hush it - did not work. So I had to turn the alarm off permanently. So frustrating. March 12, 2016
