Hello Dusty, If mounting on the wall, we recommend mounting at eye level. Carbon monoxide alarms do not have to be near the ceiling. Thank you.

No. CO has about the same density as air. It should be mounted near the natural gas appliance that you are using.

The instructions claim that it will display levels between 11-999 ppm. It will not set off the alarm at levels below 30 ppm. In an actual event in my apartment building of a gas water heater flue leak, my unit registered 13 ppm and a neighbor's registered 19 ppm. Answer:
The unit's peak level memory will display levels between 11 and 999 PPM. However, PPM levels below 30 will not trigger the alarm. Concentrations of CO between 1 and 30 PPM can often occur in normal, everyday conditions; per the provided instructions.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 51 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Must have for both individual and family security Product is the best that I have encountered for carbon monoxide protection. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LITHIUM ION BATTERY OPERATED CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM Easy to mount and activation was a breeze. They don't take up much wall space and the blinking green indicator lets me know the sensor is on duty 24/7. April 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Small and easy to install - 10 year battery Small and easy to install. I liked that it's battery operated and that there is no cord. Where I have mounted it, a cord would have been a hassle. Although the built-in battery cannot be replaced, it is supposed to last for ten years (which is great). A very good purchase, I think. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Feeling safer Very easy to install and set up. Good for 10 years. I like it. February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So far, so good... We woke early one morning to have our existing CO2 alarm going off, only to discover that one had reached its end of life cycle. We replaced it with this model. Material is sturdy and the LED code is a great plus! The real test will be if the internal battery lasts for 10 years! January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Was easy to install - appears to work fine. The Co monitor was easy to install and I like the idea of not having to change the battery about once a year as we did on the previous one. However, since we do not have any CO problem, I can't swear to the fact that is it woking properly. January 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as Advertised I mounted this unit in a sauna I built that is heated by a natural gas sauna heater. The detector's specifications state that it operates up to 100 degrees F. I mounted it in a location that stays about that temperature, and the unit is operating just fine and without fault.. I do get a reading of around 37ppm when the sauna is heated to optimum temperature, which is not of great concern to me since the exposure time is very limited. It is reassuring to know that I do have a CO detector for my protection. November 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SAFE AT LAST We have been needing a CO detector for years, but like many other things, it went on the back burner. What I noticed about this unit is it had everything important for safety. I like the fact that it had a 10 yr lithium battery. May 19, 2014
