Hello Evans. Yes. And no. There is a plastic plate or surface on the back of our wiring harness that say "Warning, AC Power Present". On the old wiring harnesses from 2004 and before, the plate on the wiring harness is round and goes all the way around the plug. On the new wiring harnesses, the plate goes only behind the plug and is fan or mushroom shaped. This model of new hardwired worry free combination smoke and co alarm with 10 year battery will not work with the old plug. If you have the old plug, you will need to change out the plug. This involves undoing the wire caps and using the exact same wires in the exact same place on the new wiring harness. If you are not sure of what you are doing, the safest way to replace the plug is always to get a licensed electrician. If you have the newer plug already, it should not be an issue and your current plug then would work with this alarm. Either way, you will have to change out the bracket, but that just takes a screwdriver to change out. We are Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788. Thank you for your interest. Read Less

Try pressing the test button. This could also be an indication that the alarm is just running on battery alone and that a wire may have come out of the wiring caps in the ceiling. If pressing the test button does not result in a solid green light, try having this alarm trade places with one of the others. If every alarm has a problem in this location, you will need to get an electrician in. If it is just that this alarm has a problem in every location in the house, call us at Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788 with the alarm in hand. Read Less

If you want to use this alarm by itself and not connected to other alarms, hook up the black and white wires on the plug to the hot and neutral wires of an 120 volt circuit but leave the red interconnect wire disconnected and capped off. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product The item may be a bit pricey, but as far as I'm concerned, this should be the only kind of smoke detector in existence. Considering how many homes that have the type of alarms that need to change batteries every six months, the millions of batteries that then get thrown away every six months, is just ridiculous. If you already have hard wired smoke detectors, just replace them with these (but make sure you get these that are also hard wired adaptable). Then just leave them alone until it's time to replace the whole unit in ten years! July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smoke and CO detector. Everyone should install these. No more 9v batteries. January 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looking forward to 10 years of not replacing batteries at 2am. They installed easily in the ceiling mounts of the original smoke alarms. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, hard to get help at Home Depot. Easy to install, works fine. Was very difficult to get help at home depot to find the right product. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smoke Doctor/CO detector These detectors were installed without any problems, April 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We are SET for 10 Years!! The alarms met my requirement to have both smoke and CO alarms in our condo. The old Kidde alarms were easy to remove and switching the electrical "pig tails' were also very easy to switch. The new Kidde ones fit onto the same screw pattern on the junction box in the ceiling. Now we have both smoke and CO alarms as well as voice-actuated alarms. No need to replace 9-volt batteries every year since the lithium batteries are good for 10 years. The three I purchased were good prices. February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No worry about dead batteries! Our electrician installed these at our house for a whole house remodel. So we bought the same style to update the smoke detectors at our son's new house purchase. Now we know they will be protected for fires and carbon monoxide issues. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good item but I did not buy the 3-Pack I purchased a single unit to use on a high ceiling. No changing batteries until I have to replace the unit, and it fits where the old unit went. However, Home Depot is mistaken if it thinks that I purchased a 3-pack. I purchased a single unit.
